“Great place”
Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

This is excellent restaurant. Outstanding food and great value. My partner and I really like this place. Steak night is great and discount on bottle of wine. Filet was perfectly cooked and cut like butter. Great attentive staff and owner. Not like me to take the time to right a positive review but they deserve a great recommendation.

Ps. I won't put this on YELP because they delete reviews and are untrustworthy

“Delicious food, great service”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We had two different veal dishes, which were very good. The bread was excellent. Our waiter recommended a red wine that was very tasty. The service was quick and the servers were very helpful without hovering. The ambience is nothing special, but I will definitely go again.

“food quality and service consistenly high”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We've gone there many times with large family groups and they always accommodate us and seem to keep up with the heavy demand. The food doesn't change much, but that can be good because it's typically good and not overly priced. Somewhat off the beaten path, but easy to park and restaurant size is sufficient.

“Molto Bene”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

A la Lucia is a very good Italian restaurant located north of Old Town Alexandria which means that free parking can be found reasonably close bye. The decor was colorful and casual and the large windows make it airy during the day. The service we had at lunch was superb; attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. It has an extensive menu of Italian soups, appetizers, and mains.

The meal started with an excellent house baked focaccia with a salted and herbed crust. The Italian white bean soup had an unexpected light tomato base but was tasty. The calamari was lightly battered and fried to perfection. The mains were a salmon dish and an excellently prepared veal scallopini, both dishes came with fresh garlic green beans. The veal scallopini with mushroom creme sauce was one the best veal dishes I've had. We also had a gelato milk shake which had a terrific coffee flavor but was thin not thick as a true shake. The cannoli was attractively presented but had a heavy crust.

“Nice Location, Nice Menu”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

We were out with friends, walking around Old Town while looking for a place to stop and eat and stopped in to A la Lucia after reading their menu on the outside. They offer a very nice menu.

The food prep was nice. Service was good. The menu could have and should have been a little more diverse. Also, the veal scaloppini was a little too much like a veal parm.

Their appetizer of grilled shrimp and lemon green beans was GREAT!

Dessert was nice... Gelato was tasty. Chocolate cake was ok, a little too sweet.

Overall it's a little pricey for the quality/prep of food.
