“Nice little museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Easy walk from King Street and worth it if you like history. Short guided tour, 20 minutes or so, but shows and explained life during the late 1700's early 1800's. Great example of a period tavern.

“Forget history, it's all about the food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We visited in July of 2006 and Jan of 2007. Both times our meals were better than any meal we had eaten at any other independent or chain restaurant ever. The historic element serves a purpose all its own, but you do not have to be reminiscent of history to visit Gadsby's. They could move to a 21st century office building with sterile walls and cold atmosphere and still deliver delicious entrees.

“An Interesting Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Has old-time foods you don't see anywhere nowadays. Brings you back to the days of Colonial Virginia. Good place to bring out of town guests.

“A Definite Must See For Visitors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

This is one of the oldest, most historic buildings and working restaurant in the city. If you are a vistor, stop by and check it out, have lunch, or dinner. The Tavern serves period food with menus fit for George Washington and Lafayette. The tours run daily and they are restoring the old ice house on the corner. Take the tour and then wonder around Old Town to see the other historic sites. John Carlyle house is just around the corner.

“A Great Historic Touch for Lunch”

Setting was authentic and the food was very appetising and reasonably priced. My wife enjoyed the General Washington porter beer. Staff were friendly
