“Brunch with Friends”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

A-m-a-z-i-n-g! We were in town on business and wanted to meet friends in Alexandria for brunch - didn't know where to eat and ended up picking Fontaine. Our brunch was so good we wanted to lick the plates! I will certainly go back for brunch and I'd like very much to have dinner there also.

“Tasty, healthy crepes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

Kind of tucked away, simple decor, but enjoyed the dinner crepes. We had ham, vegetarian and mediterranean. Comes with a side salad and quick service.

“Wonderful lunch spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Great lunch spot on S. Royal. A favorite of the locals and a great spot for Sunday brunch. Interesting salads and crepe specials each day. The crepes are buckwheat and gluten free and there are lots of options. Delicious!

“Rude manager. Not worth return trip.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Had the manager not been so rude, it would have been a good brunch. We ordered a round of cocktails, a round of specialty coffees, entrees, and dessert, then were asked to leave for having stayed too long. Less than 1-1/2 hours is too long?!? We should have known: In the first 5 minutes, the manager groused at other patrons for not closing the door fast enough as they squeezed into the tiny, overcrowded waiting space to avoid the cold, then insisted I could not place my small purse on the back of my chair and had to leave it on a bench with a friend. It's a small place made smaller by efforts to stuff as many tables as possible in it. Servers can't walk by tables without bumping and nudging guests. Brioche with egg, pancetta, and pesto was very good. Salad was fresh and delicious. Cocktails were disappointing -- a bellini is not champagne and peach schnapps. Peach dessert crepes were a little tough. In sum, I prefer that may paycheck not support rude people; I choose not to return.

“Simply wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

What a delight! A small place serving simple and healthful dishes. I couldn't believe we could just walk and get a table on a Saturday night. This is not French food of the over the top variety, which is just fine by me.
