The oldest building in Abbingdon & right on Main St. We didn't call for reservations but they thankfully got us in,We were a party of 6 and seated on the back balcony. If the weather is very warm I might not have liked it but it was very nice. Our waiter ,Duane, was one of the best I've ever had. Our group ordered 6 different dishes- all delicious. The history, the food and service were all mixed perfectly to make an incredible evening.

I had our first meal at the Tavern on 07/29/2006 fo my parents 50th wedding anniversary and have been back a few times for special occasions. Max the owner has been a dream to work with on those occasions and made each time very special. The food and service rivals Sardi's In NYC. Never have been disappointed. I will be back around xmas this year and look forward to another great meal.

We selected The Tavern because it is #1 on TripAdvisor. I wish we had eaten elsewhere! The service was very spotty. After we (finally) ordered, our server disappeared and we did not get our bread or salads for at least 20 minutes. The bread was...bread. Nothing spectacular, not really any taste. The salad was about 3/4 cup of greens with a few little things sprinkled on it. However, the garlic salad dressing was delicious. We ordered the chicken, which had some kind of pesto in between the 2 pieces, then a white sauce on top. The chicken was plentiful and fried to a crisp perfection, but it didnt have much flavor, despite the 2 sauces. I had wanted the prime rib, but they were out of both it and the scallops. The vegetable medley had the consistency of frozen veggies and the serving was very sparse. The chicken and veggies were served on a HUGE plate, which made the servings seem even smaller than they were. Our server came by one time to refill our drinks. For the price we paid, the dinner just wasn't up to par. Charming old log cabin. We walked by a couple of the other restaurants and wish we had tried those instead.
