Very good food! The stuffed filet is excellent! Even better, is the owner who comes by your table to check on you! Love this old school hospitality! The atmosphere is wonderful as is the wait staff! 5 stars! Make sure to have a reservation!

What a great experience. The food was wonderful, the staff very attentive and the building itself is a historical artifact. We were so happy that we decided to try it while we were in Abingdon.

I travel a lot and visit many restaurants. The Tavern is a rare find. The meal reminded me of those you see portrayed in high-end, metropolitan restaurants. The steak medallions were perfect. The sea scallops were huge and pan seared just right with a delicious light crust. I'm somewhat embarrassed to say I forgot my other guests seated at my table and got lost in this meal. The tastes were incredible. A true chef created the menu. Interestingly the owner visited our table twice to verify our satisfaction. To sum up in a word - GO!

The owner made two passes through to make certain everything was OK. The German food was only a little disappointing. The seafood and specials of the day are the way to go.
