This was my first time to see a play(other than my son's high school plays) in Many a year! We chose to see "Kiss Me Kate" & it was Excellent! The singing, acting & costume changes were Tops! We would Highly recommend this place to anyone. Hope to come back to Abingdon again in 2014.

I saw Alice in Wonderland here and was not very impressed. Although the interacting with the crowd was a fun touch it wasn't really for me, I was expecting something a bit more serious but instead was met with something much more child friendly.

The Barter Theatre puts on some of the best community theatre in the US! I have been to two plays recently and am impressed with the caliber of entertainment. Because of the size of the facility, you feel like the actors are performing just for you. Although I have a hearing loss, I am always able to understand clearly. The set design is carefully thought out to follow the story line. I look forward to enjoying another play in the near future

The staff was so wonderful, the theater is beautiful, and the cast was very enthusiastic and likable. The set was fantastic. I wasn't sure purchasing tickets online if there would be a problem being near the back ... it is a wonderful old theater and there can't be a bad seat in the house as it is a smaller venue. Love theaters like this! Already planning my next trip.

I love this theatre. The space is beautifully decorated with ornate details. You feel close to the stage no mater where you sit. The seats are comfortable. Acoustics are appropriate for the size of the space. Acting and production is first rate. Parking is accessible. It's a great experience all around.
