This is a must see for all who travel to Abingdon. The theatre is beautiful, the actors phenomenal and the productions rival the best you have ever seen.

I have been to the Barter many times, and have always been impressed with the quality of the productions. Always first rate performances.

Barter is an older theatre and can't provide the production values of theatres in larger cities, but they sure do provide the talent. The best show is one with choreography (Oklahoma! and Beauty & the Beast were superb). The theatre offers some hoary crowd-pleasers to pay the bills, but they also feature works by regional and edgier playwrights. The ushers are volunteers and are very kind to folks with disabilities.

Wonderful experience, saw the Christmas Carol. Well worth the price and the trip to get there. Historical place and friendly people. Would definitely go to Barter Theater again.

My husband and I went to see "Wooden Snowflakes" at Stage II. We arrived early enough to enjoy an amazing piece of banana's foster cheesecake and to wander the gift shop before the show. Our seats were in the center of the 2nd row, middle of the theater - wow, we were so close, we felt like we could reach out and touch the performers. We both were a bit worried when we realized there were only 2 actors, but within 5 minutes of the start of the show, we were so engrossed in the performance. It was a great show! I cried at times (and was glad to look around and see I wasn't the only one "boo-hooing" ). It was a good original story for the holidays. I can't wait to go back and seen a few more shows. I highly recommend the show/theater!
