what a place. if you really want to get away to a magical place- this 100 yer old resort on a remote lake on the Canadian border of Vermont's northeast kingdom is not to be missed. pristine country, great hiking trails, cozy wood heated cabins, fair price, great home cooking, amazing people running the place. not a lot to do and no TV- but a real old fashioned getaway for a family or romantic visit. we love this place.

We spent 3 nights on this place and promised ourselves to return next year. Peace and beauty is your reward. Dog friendly place (one of the reasons we choose this destination). Unpretentious, simple, basic comfort. It is the place of choice if you want to go back to a smarter way of life where resources are not wasted, priorities are different, nature is enjoyed and respected like it is supposed to be. Your senses are filled with the best things life has to offer. Awesome views, peaceful walking trails, boats are free for you to use, a charming wood burning stove in your living room and two gorgeous lakes.
Maybe the best of all, Ray and Kealy (the managers) and the rest of a friendly staff.

We spend 4 days at quimbys visiting family.
We where ther after the peek season
The quite of this place is unbelievable, but still, you have all the comfort needed.
Lobster cookout at sunset was a highlight for us
Being from Belgium we believe here that the ultimate nature trip need to be done in Canada, but the stay at quimby , on the lake prove us wrong.
I recommend this place if you want to go with flour family and pet(s) in a green trip with some comfort ( even high speed internet if you are the type that needs to stay connected) ....

Quimby Country is not for everyone. The cottages are comfortable but basic -- more along the lines of the fishing camp it used to be. There are no TVs, no whirlpools. But for families that enjoy the outdoors, Quimby Country is ideal. It sits on one of the prettiest lakes in Vermont and is a brief 10-minute walk from the most unspoiled swimming and boating anywhere. Counselors keep the kids busy all day and all meals are taken in the century-old lodge, where wifi is available for people who have trouble cutting the string to civilization. The inn's one phone line is also there (free long distance). Quimby's is a great place to experience the outdoors and each other's company.

Room Tip: There are 19 cabins strung along a path from the lodge. If you want extra privacy, ask for one of th...

So many events and nice people, well worth the trip! There are lots of fun activities and games that are well put together. We went to Quimby to fish and their were plenty to catch. Great views and nice walks. The attendants are so nice and helped us so much without any resistance. Swimming water is clean and clear. Quimby really has all of the great small things that people look for in a great vacation and has all of big stuff as well.

Room Tip: All have great views, none are better

Quimby Country is the perfect refined rustic quintessential Vermont getaway and proved to be one of the best venues in Vermont for a weekend wedding celebration. The location is perfect for fun with family and friends- with activities to suit everyone. From the start of planning the wedding Ray, Kealy and the rest of the staff were great- helping to make the weekend come off seamlessly and the guests enjoy the weekend. Chef Steve created wonderful menus for the entire weekend and the food was amazing- even the foodies raved about it! We're already looking forward to going back!

Room Tip: All of the cabins are clean and quaint. Simple but very comfortable and cute.

We just returned from our first trip to Quimby Country with our 4 yr old, 2 yr old, and two dogs. What else can we say except it was paradise. The meals were great, the accommodations were clean and comfortable, and our kids and dogs had the times of their lives (as did we!). In a lot of ways, going to Quimby is like going back in time - kids have fun building pinatas and terrariums and adults relax with wine and friendly conversation. When our kids went to bed, my husband and I played board games while drinking beers and watching the sun set over Forest Lake. Keelie, the wonderful counselor, was so great with all the kids (especially our little motor mouth) and she kept them busy with fun and imaginative activities. The other guests were really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel like we had been going to Quimby for years.

This is a great place if you have kids and especially great if you want to find a place for kids AND dogs. It is wise to bring some "resort casual" attire for evenings, especially the cocktail hour on Sunday.

We booked for 2013 before we left. I agree with other reviewers who said there is no place like it. It took me back to my own family vacations as a kid, hiking and swimming during the day, working on puzzles and board games as a family in the evening, and watching our kids enjoy the sheer joy of youth and freedom. I recommend this place to anyone.

Thank you to all the staff (especially Andrea and Courtney in the dining room) for making us feel so at home! And thank you to the resident dogs Cowboy and Sam for letting our daughter crawl and climb all over y'all and put her fingers in your mouth. She really enjoyed that :)

Room Tip: Those with small kids will really benefit from proximity to the play ground.
