Owner description: Drive this scenic mountain which is also used as a outdoor classroom for the study of various species of plants and animals. At 5.2 miles, the Mount Equinox Skyline Drive is the longest privately owned paved toll road in the U.S. Those who prefer to hike can pick up a trail map at the Toll House. At the top of the mountain is our new Saint Bruno Scenic Viewing Center packed with info about Equinox Mountain and the Carthusian Monks. The private property which is 7,000 acres is owned by the Carthusain monks. A cloistered order of Catholic monks. There is the Catholic gift shop at the bottom of the mountain and also souvenirs from your trip.

This drive is roughly 2 miles that can be taken after paying a toll at the toll house downhill. The drive is very beautiful. It has some mesmerizing views and is perfect even to hike. It has a small office at the summit with restrooms and picnic area. The view of the lake and the monastery is simply superb. This is one drive I would always remember. It is well worth the toll.

The drive to the top is breathtaking in places - the visitor centre gives an excellent understanding and history to the place, including the Hill racing, the Roman Catholic monastery there, and the family who financed it all. Well worth visiting.

A beautiful drive through quaint Vermont towns that led to the Manchester VT area. A pretty drive (about 2 miles) to the summit. Many trails to hike with breathtaking views. We took the short trail to Lookout Rock..which took about 25 mins. Be sure to wear appropriate shoes for hiking. The air is clean, fresh and scented with the fresh balsams along the trail.

Noting comments regarding the price of driving up Mt. Equinox's Skyline Drive, I couldn't help but think that sometimes our values and priorities are a bit skewed! $20 for a car full of family or even just a couple is very reasonable. Consider two people going to a theater for 2-3 hours....by the time you've purchased tickets, popcorn, etc., you've spent well over that amount and your memories may be short-lived.
You might also consider that this attraction is privately owned and only open during spring, summer and fall. The owners have expenses they must cover, such as road maintenance, staff, housekeeping for buildings, including rest rooms, trail repairs, etc. I always say that nothing really good comes cheaply.
This road has been a major area asset for many years. In its early life, activities abounded, including road races to the summit, with many famous drivers participating. The solitude and silence, except for birds, is exceptional and hugging someone you love standing on a rock on top of a beautiful world jusr can't be beat!

It's a shame they charge so much for this attraction. The views from the top are nice but not amazing. Similarly, the drive up is pleasant and scenic, but nothing you wouldn't get on a scenic byway. The $15 per car + $5 per occupant charge is excessive, given that there's really nothing special about this place. Very poor value.
