“Great for a relaxing weekend”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We stayed in the Ira Allen Suite this past weekend & had a great time. Upon booking, we were informed of a special rate they were offering that weekend so we were given a lower rate than we thought it was going to be initially. Upon arriving we were blown away with how beautiful the area & house was. The house is very well kept & spotless. The breakfast was great both mornings we stayed & the portions are very genourous compared to other B&Bs we stayed at previously.

Maria and Ed are so friendly & make you feel right at home.

The area has a very "small town" feel to it but we found plenty to do & there were many restaurants to eat & drink at.

Overall, an excellent stay.

Maria and Ed will welcome you whole-heartedly to the Ira Allen House! We loved our room (Remember Baker Suie), which was comfortable and spacious-- and every minute of our stay! Maria will be sure to make you feel welcome, and before you leave you'll feel like family. She showed us local hot-spots and each one was wonderful! She served up a delicious breakfast, we felt like family after one meal! This is the perfect Vermont location-- scenic, comfortable, friendly. We'll be back for another dose of Vermont hospitality!

Room Tip: Remember Baker Suite has a deck/door off the back! Great in summer for sitting outside.

this place is like a fantasy of a bed and breakfast. seriously! the rooms are charming, the beds are comfortable, there's a gorgeous cozy romantic sitting room, the breakfasts are real breakfast, homemade every morning by Maria, who is a wonderful cook. she and her husband ed are funny and knowledgeable and fantastic guides. the property includes a gazebo and a bubbling brook. and so close to the ski resorts. will definitely come back.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good.

We wanted somewhere cozy and romantic to stay for a ski weekend at Stratton and found this charming bed and breakfast. Maria and Ed, the owners, could not have been more accommodating with suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area. The Remember Baker suite was the perfect answer to cozy and romantic with it's rustic charm and great fireplace. Maria made breakfast for us both mornings with fresh eggs from her own chickens. Yum! This is a great location in a quiet, quaint little town and is convenient to both Bromley and Stratton mountains. Unfortunately we could only stay three nights and we were so sad to have to leave. We hope to return in the spring/summer.

Room Tip: We were able to see all the rooms at the Inn and they are all wonderful; however, Remember Baker sui...

Stayed with my fiance over New Year's weekend... his requirement was that we be near the slopes for skiing and that the room had a fireplace... he was right on both accounts, and Maria and the Ira Allen didn't disappoint at all! We had a fabulous weekend skiing (even though the weather didn't cooperate), and spent the coziest New Year's Eve in, watching the ball drop by a roaring fire in our room's fireplace! Breakfast was amazing, organic eggs, homemade french toast... and lots of tasty coffee. Maria was very warm and welcoming. As was Milo, the (female) cat! The rooms were country chic with that unique B&B feel that you can only get in one of these old historic buildings. We can't wait to come back. Thanks Maria!

Room Tip: remember baker suite was ours, were very happy with it

We were the fortunate winners of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce's Summer Escape which included two nights at The Ira Allen House. We stayed five and were sad to see our time in this warm, happy inn come to an end. Maria and Ed, the innkeepers; are great. They are so friendly with a deep knowledge of the area and with a love and respect of their beautiful, historic Inn. The wide plank floors and the enormous hand wrought wood beams in the inn are outstanding as are the delightfully decorated guest rooms. Maria's breakfasts were delicous and she was so willing to make a reservation, suggest a place to explore and knew how to make her guests feel welcomed. The Ira Allen House is just a few miles south of Manchester on historic Rt. 7A nestled in a lovely area. We highly recommend this gem!

Room Tip: The Remember Baker suite is wonderful. Decor is that of an Adirondack fishing lodge with working wo...

Drove up on a rainy Friday afternoon. The Innkeeper Maria made dinner reservations for us at John's Table approx. 5 minutes down the road. Remember Baker suite was great. Warm & cozy, lit the fireplace both nights. Breakfast was great. Maria gave great suggestions as to how to structure our day. 10 minutes to the Manchester outlets, 20 minutes to the Vermont Country Store. Had a great time despite the less than optimal weather. Thanks Maria ! J.
