“A bit crowded but nice clean water”

Alburg Dunes State Park

Just an hour drive from Montreal you'll find a pretty beach well worth the drive. And it's only 3$ per person.

This is a great place to relax a bit. The beach is nice and sandy, water is clean and clear and you feel like you have gotten away from it all. I wish I would have known that Kayak or Canoe rental was an option and I would have brought extra cash!! Bathrooms are portapotties. Lots of picnic tables and adequate parking to be had. Make sure to watch the sunset over the lake!!

we found poison ivy all over the place at the edge of the beach.Don't walk anywhere that isn't mowed ,and keep a close eye on your kids if they start to wander near the tall grass at the edge of the beach.
.This also means be VERY CAREFUL if you are looking for shade under the trees near the beach where
people often put picnic tables.
When we told the attendants they said that there used to be signs .......We think they just don't want
people to know,
Otherwise a nice beach but lots of algae in the water

We thoroughly enjoyed this charming little beach. Although a little tricky to find ,once there, it is most pleasurable. There is a lovely strip of soft, white sand beach, with picnic tables under the shade. If you are expecting to see "dunes" however, you will be somewhat disappointed, as the "dune" is more or less a cordoned off area - nevertheless the rest of the beach makes up for the lack of "dunes". We were there on a hot August Monday and there was plenty of space, tables etc for everyone. It really is "a little treasure" in the Champlain Islands. We will definitely be going back.

It is worth the drive to head up through the Champlain Islands towards Canada to visit Alburgh Dunes State Park! Its not huge, but its not tiny either. Best way to describe it is "cute" It can get busy but i have not ever seen it over crowded. The water is VERY shallow and as a result, quite warm too for VT standards. You can walk out at least 100 feet, sometimes more before it gets deep. Great for kids, or strolling couples. No changing rooms or food area, so you will have to change in the car or in the port-o-let. Bring your picnic or cookout. This is such a cool place. Just writing this review is making me think i will take the 45 minute drive to head back up again tomorrow
