Owner description: Alta turns 70 next winter. Alta's place in the ski world is unique, its history storied. Alta's culture blends this past with the future as it presents, along with Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, America's first lift-served interconnect. Alta and pure, unspoiled skiing are synonymous. Alta's wide variety of terrain, breathtaking alpine scenery and superb snow conditions combine to create a unique setting. Alta continues to offer a ski-only experience.

“Alta gets great snow!”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

Took the family on a ski trip to Utah last spring. Was particularly interested in Alta because they don't allow snowboarders (one of the few resorts that ban them). There was a lot of terrain for us - intermediate and advanced skiers. The people were friendly, and with our truck, the road in was no big deal. I really liked parking the truck and immediately skiiing to the lift! We purchased a three day pass for multiple parks and skied the second day at Solitude (see other review). Our first day at Alta was idealic... lots of powder, light and fluffy. On our third day of skiing we revisited Alta and unfortunatley did not have as good an experience (hence the 4 not 5 stars). This last day of skiing was freezing rain... and the run conditions were terrible (hard crust on powder). It was nothing the resort could have done... mother nature just does her thing and we have to take what we get.

“A locals favorite”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

Great terrain for all levels. Nice long runs for beginners & intermediate that you don't find at the other resorts. Great advanced too. Not a real "resort" ski place, but that's what I love about it. For people who want to ski and not necessarily want to hang out in a ritzy lodge with high priced food. No snowboarders at Alta, which upset some, but for skiers it is a bonus. This is my personal favorite ski resort in Utah.

Deep powder, the most and deepest of any Utah ski resort, no snowboarders, and the best chili I have ever had (at the base cafeteria).
a resort for the pure skier.

“Great skiing!”
Reviewed May 10, 2012

Skiing is my favorite sport. For years, Alta was one of my favorite resorts. Later they raised their prices, so I switched to Snowbird. Alta is a great resort. It just doesn't rank quite as high as Snowbird in my mind. But I still can't complain.

“No Snowboarders, Gorgeous Views, Excellent Terrain”

A true classic for skiing. (Snow stays best at this highest of Utah Ski Resorts. Drive is a little long but totally worth it.
