Comfortable beds and with a superior corner suite, more than enough room for four people. Plenty of luggage and drying space in the room and bathroom is huge (though a bit cold as there wasn't any door to close off shower space). Fill up the included humidifiers, as it makes sleeping much better. Can't remember much in the way of noise from anywhere aside from the groomers early in the morning.

Included breakfast was hearty and with a bit of cooked food variety, kept us interested for the whole week. We mostly returned for lunch as well and the food was always great. Finally dinner (again included in the rate) also had good variety and generally well executed (you definitely wouldn't go hungry here).

Tow ropes definitely a challenge for kids (mine were under 70lbs) and even my wife sometimes (she is under 110lbs) so get the free shuttle in the morning, especially if you are turning left where the end of the rope is uphill. Easy return location too. Ski shop downstairs quite comprehensive and with good service though definitely not cheap.

Comparing prices you could probably stay off property and save $300-400 per day (not a small amount) but we only ski once a year and the location and service hard to beat.

Thank you for your complimentary review and for choosing to stay with us at the Rustler. We pride ourselves on providing the most square footage and amenity package per dollar spent of any lodge in the canyon. We appreciate your description of our space and gourmet dining options as some highlights of your stay. If you'd prefer not to ski out of our property we're always happy to shuttle our guests to different areas of Alta or Snowbird. We're so glad you were able to enjoy our location and luxuriate in your slopeside vacation with us. Looking forward to your swift return, Sheridan Davis

We have been staying at the Rustler for about 50 years. They have always provided for our needs with initiative and in the family style. Great skiing with easy access, great food, great accommodations, and most of all the culture is one of a skiing family in a ski lodge. Dine at the Wasatch Table and meet new friends and see old ones.

Thank you for your gracious review. Returning guests make the Rustler what it is today, and your tenure is exceptional! Thank you for making us part of your family traditions. The culture created by our guests who stay with us year after year is mirrored by the Rustler's long term family ownership and management team. Those deep connections are part of the Rustler and Alta's skiing culture and are increasingly rare--thank you for speaking to those intangibles in your review. All our guests are welcome to join our hosted Wasatch Table at dinner where tall tales may be heard between old and new skiing friends over a gourmet four course meal accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine. We look forward to hosting you this year and thank you again for capturing much of what makes staying at the Rustler so special. With kind regards, Sheridan Davis

Like Alta itself, it is hard to beat the Rustler Lodge. Friendly and unpretentious they seem to have a thorough understanding of how to run and maintain a genuine alpine lodge. The restaurant, lobby and bar have all their 60s-70s vintage charm while the the spa, pool, steam room, etc. have seen impressive remodeling so over the years. The food is 4 star, including a fabulous breakfast buffet. Rooms are just the right size, not excessive, and the dorm area is quite nice. Bar/restaurant and most rooms have commanding views of Mt Superior and High Rustler. The staff seem to love the place as much as the guest if that's any indication.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Rustler and for your kind review. We hope to remain friendly, unpretentious, and most importantly genuine regarding history here as a ski lodge in Alta. We aspire to offer our guests understated elegance and every amenity they may wish for to truly unwind, relax, and enjoy the best slopeside accomodations and skiing of their lives. Delicious food, spacious and spotless guest rooms, abundant common areas with gorgeous views of Alta and the Wasatch as well as our heated pool, Jacuzzis, gym, and roaring fireplaces are all reasons our guests and our staff genuinely love the Rustler. Looking forward to seeing you when the snow flies and with many thanks, Sheridan Davis

The thing I loved most about this resort was how convenient it was! It truly was a "ski-in/ski-out" resort. The most convenient I have ever seen. They picked us up from the airport, so we didn't need to rent a car. They had ski rental at the resort as well, a family size locker to hold your skis at the end of each day, and you literally just put your skis on and ski down a slope, grab a tow rope and BAM! you are at the first chair lift. It's easy enough for kids and adults of all levels. If you don't want that they will shuttle you over in a van. This would be nice if you were getting your kids to ski school because it drops you right off at the school. The close proximity is also convenient if you need to go back to your room for something or want to head in early. I love Alta and the nice range of slopes for beginners apposed to the neighboring ski resort of Snowbird. But if Snowbird is your thing (THEY allow snowboards) or you want to mix it up, the resort will shuttle you over there for the day too. The lodge has a very rustic but very classy feel to it. The rooms are spacious and the built in glove and boot dryers are a nice touch! The huge windows in the bar and dinning room give the most picturesque view of the mountain, especially when it's snowing! The lodge pays special attention to the little details like having coffee, tea and flavored water available in the lobby, small snacks etc. My husband tried the full service spa on-site for a massage and loved it! We stayed during our Spring break week, fell into a nice routine with skiing until about 4pm, hitting the outdoor heated pool and Jacuzzi, then enjoying an amazing 7 course gourmet meal. What's not to love? The breakfast is amazing as well. This trip is one we had to save up for but it was well worth it! This resort is popular for good reason, so book early if you want this amazing experience.
