Hospitality without Boundaries – Revisited

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 17, 2015
This was our second season visiting the Rustler Lodge, and we went not once, or twice, but three times because the mountain and the lodge offer a unique sanctuary where one can get away from it all, but, still be connected if they want to.

Your visit will start with seamless reservations, taken by Tauni or Kate, and when you arrive they will greet you with a smile, brief you on the lodge and amenities, and then turn you lose as the tension fades away. You will find the inclusive breakfast and dinner to be quite delicious and adaptable to most any needs. You will be greeted each meal by Teresa, Hadley or Kellie, with a genuine smile and care that makes you happy you arrived for your meal. Waiters like Dave & Paul will make sure that your order is just right and servers such as Jack and Bethany will deliver it to your table in good order. Hannah, Kim and John will keep you happy at the bar, and keep your glass as full as you like, with a smile, a good story and a discerning ear if needed. The spa is fantastic after an adventurous day on the mountain, and Amanda, Bobbi and Mariah are a must for the deep tissue massage. The hot tub bubbles and the views are to die for. Oh yes, and the Skiing, which is why your there, is really exceptional at Alta and Snowbird.

However, the most interesting aspect of the Rustler for us, is to meet the guests that have been coming for 25 plus years and the staff that have been around for 8-10 years and more because this is what makes the Rustler different and the place to be if you visit Alta. Each host, waiter, attendant you meet, will have a story…some are there simply for the skiing, others are there because the mountain and the backcountry own their soul, and, some are there because they really are simply dedicated to making your holiday the best it can be.

In the end, most of the stories of how one comes to the Rustler, why they visit, and why they stay will simply make you feel good and make you sorry to leave, but eager to return. We’ve already put our reservation request in for next year and can only hope we will be able to return again and again; because, when we there… there is no place we’d rather be.

this is my second winter spending a week at the Rustler, and it was even nicer this year thatn last, primarily because my roommate and I had a much nicer room. We were in a unit right on the floor with the lobby, which had a couple of queen beds. Last year, we were on one of the lower levels and had a small room with a pair of twins. this wasn much nicer.
The food,, drink and ambiance was terrific. I also availed myself of the ski shop in the resort, demoing skis three days and buying a pair based on this. The folks in the shop were most helpful. I look forward to next year! Maybe better snow?

Comfortable and relaxed, great food and bar, friendly and responsive staff, ski repair/rental shop on premises, and Alta at the front door. Hard to beat! I highly recommend the Rustler Lodge as a ski destination.

I have been going to Alta for decades and the Rustler just gets better each year. We go to ski, not to be seen. No furs, no baloney, just great ski in/ski out with excellent food and service. Oh, did I mention the spa? Great masseuses, best steam west of NYC, gorgeous outdoor pool, and a 'How may I help you attitude across all lines of staffing! Treat yourself to a real ski experience. Oh yeah, best powder in the country! Thanks, Kate & Staff! tb

Room tip: I like the 5th floor.

These guys are the best. Great location, delicious breakfast and dinner included, comfortable renovated rooms. We stay here with our large group and they are always friendly and responsive. I VERY HIGHLY recommend this place.

Room tip: 500 level is the same floor as the restaurant... great for limping in for dinner after a long day of skiing!

You cannot imagine a more relaxing environment for a long SuperBowl weekend. Of course, the Alta skiing is fantastic, but the staff at the Rustler make it a perfect relaxing and fun weekend. The Snow Weasels have been coming to the Rustler for many years. I have been coming for 7 years along with my son and now we cannot imagine any place else for skiing. From the check-in (keys are immediately ready), to the ski rentals (no hassle at all and no wait), to the extraordinary food at each meal, to the front desks willingness to always help with a smile --- they even brought two bags of ice to the bar, so my buddy and I could ice our knees while sitting by the fire with a beer. For the Rustler staff, it is all about a comfortable, warm, fun stay. And the amenities are superb --- great pool, hot tub, steam, fitness center, etc., etc., etc.. An absolute gem !!!
