Hotel is very nice, but if you get a room on the inside, it can be noisy all night. And inside rooms have no fresh air - the window opens up to the atrium, not the outside.Hotel is part of the arboretum shopping complex - very nice. And don't miss Amy's Ice Cream for desert!

Room Tip: Pick an outside room so you get fresh air and some quiet.

I had initially booked this hotel because I was planning a weekend trip to Austin and wanted to use one of my Marriott free night certificates. I can't speak to value too much since I did use the free night for my stay. This property was rated a category 4 under Marriott's scale so I was expecting an average experience. Instead, this hotel well exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff at the front desk and the hotel's sleek lobby/atrium. The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful and even mapped out for us some restaurants and bars to go to in downtown Austin. We were upgraded to a nicer room and were thrilled when we entered our room which ended up being a large corner suite with an open floor plan. The room was clean, modern and sleek and featured a dining area and living room area as well. A partial wall divided the living area from the king sized bed. The bathroom was a nice size and had a small area for storing luggage. It was overall a very large space.

The only downfall to this hotel (which may be a positive to some) is that it is about a 15-20 minute ride downtown to Sixth Street which features a long stretch of bars. We took a taxi cab down to 6th street and ran us about $30. If you're looking for nightlife, definitely visit some of the bars on 6th street and make your way towards 4th street which has less of a college crowd.

Very beautiful place in a beautiful setting. Newly refurbished w/ modern, clean rooms and great views from the upper floors. Mall next door has several restaurants. Friendly staff gave us 2 hr extra checkout. Free parking. The convention rate of $109/day makes it the bargain of the year. Only one thing...the room.had no drawers! Go figure. Certainly no deal killer, but strange.

It was obvious that hotel staff embraced a exemplary customer service culture. Check in was quick and pleasant, I was greeted every time I left or returned. The hotel has a wonderful and hilly four mile running route through local neighborhoods, and staff were attentive enough to offer a water bottle upon my return.

The facilities are clean and up to date. There is both an indoor and outdoor pool, and surroundings are very nice. The fitness room was a little too small. Rather than trying to cram a lot of machines into the room, a functional trainer with instructions would allow the same work out and open up the room. Lemon water was a nice touch, but equipment could have been straightened up.

Only one cup of coffee in the room per day. Guess they prefer you spend money on Starbucks in the lobby. Oh, and the MAC computer stations at Starbucks are a nice touch. Overall, a nice experience.

Room Tip: The large atrium can be noisy at night, so rooms on the outer North side are quietest since they ar...

The Renaissance was a very spacious motel with a lovely atrium and ample meeting rooms. The indoor/outdoor pool area was furnished with couches, chairs & cloth recliners. The whirlpool was actually hot, and the fitness area had ample modern equipment. Throughout the motel & atrium were lounge chairs with comfortable, stylish pillows.
The restaurant had a limited menu and the service was less than favorable.
Near the motel were a number of shops & dining options within walking distance. The neighborhood was clean & a walking path was available along the trees lining the property.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms had outside views, others were inside with a balcony overlooking the atrium. The...

The Renaissance Austin Hotel is so very convenient on the north side of Austin. It is in the heart of a huge selection of restaurants and convenient shopping at the Domain, easy access to and from the major freeways, and a lovely place for a large party, convention, or small intimate wedding. The staff at the hotel is a joy to work with and very accommodating. At present, the remodeling/refurbishing of the rooms and hotel is in the final phases. The newly done rooms are lovely and everything sparkled. Housekeeping did a great job very efficiently. The food on site was excellent. There was NO rubber chicken. Even the kiosk in the Atrium served excellent tortilla soup and yummy paninis. The meeting rooms were large and set with notepaper, pens, and hard candies. What more could you ask for? Only one suggestion, I do advise that you bring a sweater or blazer as the meeting rooms are chilly. .Very nice hotel!

Room Tip: If you want a view other than a rooftop or a parking garage, request a room at the back of the hotel...

This hotel was recently renovated, but they still need to update some things.

I stayed at this hotel for about a week while attending SXSW. The staff was always friendly, and very accommodating and never seemed as if they had anything more important to do than help you with your issue or concern.
I did think that the room had a strange layout. I had a suite, so it was larger than most. However, there were 3 TVs, no overhead lighting and the drawers on the nightstand had no handles, and were very difficult to open. There all sorts of random wooden stools and furniture pieces that did not belong in the space.
I did appreciate the free parking, but WiFi was $12.95/night.
Pros:
Recently Renovated
Spacious Rooms
Clean Rooms
Nice Staff
Free Parking

Cons:
Bad lighting
Hard to find electric outlets
Awkwardly designed rooms with bad use of space
