Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown
Ranked #40 of 201 Hotels in Austin

Reviewed February 1, 2013

Our company chose this Radison based on the proximity to our meeting in the area. This hotel is one the corner of Congress and Caesar Chavez. Lobby is what you would expect with some fish tanks in the lobby and behind the main desk loaded with fresh water fish. The hotel is 12 stories tall with a Starbucks and a TGI Friday's on sight.
I would suggest not staying on the road side in this building, I was on the 11th floor and clearly could hear car noise from the road below all night and early in the morning...highly recommend to ask for a lake side view room for a bit more serenity.
The breakfast buffet is taken in the TGI Friday which was a first for me. The buffet is around $12.00 per person. Consisting of: pastries, some fresh cut fruits, oatmeal and cereal, one to two versions of eggs, waffles and an omelet bar, bacon, Danon Yogurt, toast. Coffee and juice is included with the buffet that can be charge to your room from the TGI Fridays. Do not drink the coffee if you actually enjoy good coffee...it was not good at all. Go to Starbucks or one of the other local coffee houses.

I had a room with one of their Sleep Number Beds, I was looking forwarding to trying one of these bed out so it may be interesting if you want to try this out so make sure you ask for a room with one of the Sleep Number Beds since some of my co-workers did not get this bed in their rooms. I am a tempurpedic guys so this bed was not for me.

Location is good here just a few blocks up to 6th street and the Capital so you can get a few places. If you are looking to do some jogging or walking while here you can get on the trail to the lake right behind the hotel.

Staff was very friendly and parking is free in the garage and they also offer valet parking.

Decent value for the $ but there are a few nice hotels to stay at in Austin..but is served it's purpose on this trip.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the Cesar Chavez road side cause you can hear road noise thru their older windo...

Looked for a central location and this was it! It was right on Congress Ave by the 'bat bridge' and you could see the Capitol in the other direction. Although we didn't eat there, there is a Starbucks and TGIFriday's on location. It is a short walking distance (less than 10 min) to famous 6th street where all the hype and buzz is (restuarants, bars, nightlife). Self-parking was $16USD in December 2012, vs the $24 for valet.
We were upgraded to a sleep-number king size with mini fridge at the top floor. Staff was friendly and attentive.

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Travelsphere tour of Texas and thought it was excellent. The hotel is in a good location, close to the 6th Streets with its array of cool bars and restaurants and we were allocated a high level room which gave a view up Congress Avenue.

The main memory we have of our stay was the bat flights at dusk. We had a meal in the TGI Fridays (which is attached to the hotel) and had front row seats for the display - fantastic stuff!

TGIFriday's is on the property as well as a Starbucks...

We were within a few miles of the Corp. office of Whole Foods....what a destination for beer/wine tasting plus a great feast for your senses. Really fun!

Would recommend for a short stay when you want to see it all!

Room Tip: A bit of road noise from either side.....

No complaints. My daughter loved the lobby, and the view of the lake from our room. Staff was helpful and pleasant. We didn't get to take advantage of the trails outside the hotel, but it was nice to know they were there. The parking garage is a bit confusing.

The location of this Radisson could not have been better. Located next to the Anne Richards bridge and overlooking the Lady Bird Lake. Easy walk to all the wonderful locations. Excellent location to catch a bus ($2 for an all day pass including transport to the airport). The lobby is nothing special but there is free access to computers, if you didn't bring your own. Our room overlooked the lake and it was extraordinarily large, including a round table with four chairs and two lounge chairs. Our friends stayed a block away at the Four Seasons; their lobby was beautiful; their rooms very small and average and they paid more than double what we did. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there is a Fridays next door.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake. You can sign up for an "if available"

Stayed here on business during Grand Prix weekend in November. There ate plenty of positives; the staff is very friendly, and it is in a very convenient location. The cleaning staff does a good job, but the rooms are a bit tired. Having a coffee shop inside makes life a little easier at 0500, especially when they are asked to open early and they do.

Rooms on the Chavez St side are a bit noisy, there is plenty of street noise. Amazingly, my cell phone signal was very intermittent in the room (VZW) and I missed calls and messages. As mentioned the rooms are a bit tired, and the free internet is very slow.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back side.
