I stayed here this weekend for a wedding and overall it was a pretty great hotel! I would have given it the 5 rating, except parking is SUCH a mess! We had a beautiful room overlooking Lady Bird Lake. I have to say Daniel, the food & bev manager, absolutely made our stay what it was! Seriously amazing, accomodating, and a fixer - if anything happened he took care of it right away. Without him, the weekend would not have been what it was!

Room Tip: You definitely want a room on the side overlooking the lake/downtown skyline! The others overlook parking & construction.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt for a wedding, and I was very satisfied. The hotel was huge, with very nice rooms, an outdoor patio, pool, and views of the Lake. It also had easy access to the Lakeside trails/dog park which was a plus. However, there's a massive construction project ongoing across the street which is loud. The hotel is also on the SoCo side of the lake, but about a mile from all SoCo food trucks/shops. It's also about a mile from 6th street, so unless you're planning on taking cabs all over town, be prepared to walk. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and have no complaints for the hotel itself.

The location was great for us as we wanted to split our time between downtown and South Congress. We were there for vacation though and I would have preferred a hotel with a little more local flare but our group had a good rate at the Hyatt. It's not super close to anything but convenient to everything so I was happy. The staff was friendly and helpful but we didn't really spend much time at the hotel so I can't comment much on the amenities. The room was a standard, nice hotel room.

If ur driving to this hotel don't believe the GPS cause it will gt you to an overlooking bridge instead of the hotel reception. The hotel offers ear buds to sleep due to the construction happening In the premises. I would avoid it for another 6-8 months till it completes. A business hotel with no to little luxury factor.

I and my wife stayed here while attending a convention over the Easter weekend—from Thursday through Saturday night. We were pleasantly surprised.

Our room overlooked Lady Bird Lake and had a spectacular view of the skyline across the river/lake. Almost any room facing the lake will give you this sort of spectacular view. You can also watch the throngs of bats fly out near dusk from under the Congress Street Bridge (this is a big activity in Austin when the season is right, we discovered).

The room, which was a King bed, was smaller than I would have preferred, but the view was a good antidote for any disappointment about size. It was nice and clean.

The bathroom is an integrated one, with the sink, shower, and toilet in the same enclosed room. The vanity was nice and spacious, and that is something I always prefer.

There is safe, but no small refrigerator. The internet connection, which can be wired or wireless, worked perfectly. The TV is your now standard big screen.

This hotel had a lighted signal outside the door that can be used to request privacy or housekeeping. We wanted our room made up earlier than usual, and the staff accommodated us immediately.

The staff in general was courteous, professional, and more than willing to offer assistance. One example, was the Southwest Bistro, where a waiter made sure that our food was brought out when he saw us looking around for it.

The Bistro was a most pleasant surprise. I had never had chicken quesadillas, prepared with chipotle tortillas, and they were so delicious that I ordered them two more times in subsequent days. The guacamole, which was prepared in front of us with a mortar and pestle, was to-die-for. Their breakfast buffet was excellent, and the bacon is nice and thick.

There is not much around the hotel itself in terms of more restaurants, but a short taxi ride will take you to the sixth street area, which is full of restaurants, and from where you can take tours. It is a walkable distance, as well, for those in better shape than we are. There are boat tours and all sorts of watercraft available right on the premises of the Hyatt. We took a 90 minute tour of the town.

If you are in Austin, this is definitely one place to stay. If you want to be closer to the hot spots, however, then something near sixth street may more of what you need. If you want spectacular views and magnificent service, then you might not do better than the Hyatt Regency.

Room Tip: Definitely request a room facing the lake and downtown for the most spectacular views.
