Last month I tried to find an Austin hotel for meetings I had to attend there over Spring Break. All my favorite, tried and true options were totally booked up! I could hardly believe the hotels were so booked up for Spring Break - then it came to my attention that the SXSW music festival was going on that week as well. So I had to keep expanding the area for hotel options and I had to keep reducing the quality of the hotel to find an available room. So here is what a found. The Days Inn at 35 and 183. The location, while not downtown, was actually very convenient to access the highway. And while the hotel had some interesting repairs and improvements. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice. I think I paid double the normal cost for this room - as they could charge that with the hotel demand for the week. But - I got a room! The room decor was a bit dated as were the furnishings & the bathroom - but once again - it was very clean. And while worn on the edges - the mattress was very comfortable. In a pinch - I would definitely stay here again.
