We were in the SoCo area and wanted some pizza and came upon Home slice. We tried to go to the restaurant but there was over an hour wait. We decided to go next door to the take out section of the restaurant. At first we were standing outside waiting on line, it was very hot. We noticed the waitresses would come out and call people's names and deliver the food outside. People were sitting on the curb or at the few picnic tables. This didn't seem very attractive to us. We then decided to go inside. The line was half the time, and we were able to get seating inside. This is definitely better than sitting outside. The pizza was wonderful. We enjoyed it so much we went back again a couple of nights later.

Love, love, love this pizza place. Great food, great service, great selection of beers.
My favorite is the #3 Eggplant Pie. The sauce, the crust and the cheese is perfectly delicious.

It was a pretty long wait on a Sat night but so worth it. Don't miss going to this place if your just visiting Austin. It's located in a great location to put your name in and then walk around the Soco area's shops and sights. Not just good food but a great experience.

For Austin, TX, that's a HUGE compliment, and a very rare accomplishment! A former UT alumnus recommended it, and a fellow foodie at the Franklin BBQ line highly concurred. That was enough for this Brooklyn girl to give it a look-see. My 3 kids, and hubby were not disappointed. At around 2 pm, I told them I'd take the first available seat. After waiting a few minutes under the complimentary misting hose hanging from the awning in front, we were given a backyard patio seating. Apparently there is a waiting area in the rear, so one can approach from the front or rear.
We ordered a medium 16" Margherita and a half Pepp/half cheese medium pizza. We ordered a Retro Big Red soda which our server explained was like a bubble gum flavored soda. Well, it was pretty close to it, but probably more similar to a Cherry Dr. Pepper. The pizza was awesome, with a thin crust NY style sauce, that I wonder if the chef/owner is a former NYer. Backyard was still cool, with a little help of umbrella shades and misting hoses, so if it's a hot day, just take any available seating. The backyard has fencing made of used doors (think Monsters Inc.) and picnic table with ample shade. Servers were super friendly. All in all - 5 stars!!!

A friend recommended Home Slice to us as we were going to visit Austin. I am so glad we went! It is often quite busy, but we have never waited over 30 minutes. If you are willing to sit up at the bar, you can be seated faster if seats are open. Either way, it's worth the wait. Garlic knots are amazing and pizza is even better! My kids love it and request that we go each time we visit Austin. They bring the kids dough to play with while you wait for your food and smarties candies when you check out. Staff is always friendly and attentive as well, which makes the experience that much better. You simply cannot go to Austin without stopping by Home Slice!
