stayed 4 nights. had a room in circular tower facing highway rather than Town Lake. Room was small, poorly lit, with a view of parking garage and passing traffic. Bathroom was really TINY, old smelly shower curtains. Courtesy coffee machine somewhat oddly placed next to sink. A/C was effective in eliminating traffic noise by loud humming. Furniture rather run down. Went to restaurant for breakfast, not recommended: staff unfriendly, service extremely slow, got egg over easy rather than sunny side up after 20 min of waiting, potatoes smelled of old fat. found out about free-of-charge hotel van to downtown and airport only towards end of stay. front desk people were ok. got nice free breakfast including apple when departing at 5:30 a.m. Location odd, it is a 20 min walk to downtown, but not a pleasant one, next to highway. better get a hotel in area between 2nd and 6th east streets.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Town Lake for 4 nights, which is plenty of time to see all of a hotel's plus and minuses. All staff that we encountered were extremely friendly and courteous even if they weren't the most efficient. The rooms, however were worn and tired and just average in cleanliness. The rooms in the round building of the hotel are very small. The rooms in the traditional building are of better size. My bed linens were stained and had to call staff twice to get them changed. The bathrooms were extremely small and thought it was strange that there was no light switch in the tiny bathroom/shower so that the vanity light had to be turned on to get in the shower. That's a problem when the bed is less than 3 feet away from the sink area and one person has to get up earlier than the other. Did like that there was free internet access and the location on Town Lake was very convenient for a morning run! Good location, but needs to be spruced up.

This hotel is a bit older and out of the way than I would've liked. They advertise that it's close to downtown and the attractions, but because of it's odd location, you really have to know your way around Austin for it to be useful. It is not within walking distance of any of the downtown attractions, but there is a van to take you places (something I found out at the end of my stay). The rooms are rather old, but I guess clean enough. The restaurant is certainly nothing special. Try to find another place, unless you get a super deal--not worth the money.

Standard, non-descript room with thin sheets, polyester-like, outdated bedspread, damp floor and an off smell. Most rooms have a view of the freeway, access-road, or parking structure because oddly, much of the structure does not face lake. A bit out of the way and, per the address, right off the Interstate. It is not really walking distance (at night) to downtown (around a $6 cab ride), but it is located on the river/lake that has a nice walk way to town if you have time during the day. The rate at $79 for a Sat. was fine, but next time I'll look at properties downtown.

We booked at the Holiday Inn Town Lake, in Austin Texas, based on Trip Advisor reviews. We had used Trip Advisor in the past and found it to be reliable...Not in this case. Holiday Inn Town Lake is old, worn out and disgusting. We found 2 inches of dust & dirt on the airconditioner unit in the room, went to another room, same thing. The furniture is 1970-80's & extremely worn. Very dissapointing to arrive at your destination, and be unable to stay!! I will say, tho, that the clerk at the desk (a nice young man) did help us book a wonderful room at the Omni South Park (Comparable price, 1000% better). So in that regard kudos to Holiday Inn employee.

Recently stayed here on a trip to Austin (which is a wonderful city if you've never been). This is one of the nicer Holiday Inns with clean rooms, and a nice array of servies and amenities. Nothing spectacular.
Lobby was nice and rooms were small, but pleasant with few frills, very "Holiday Inn-like." Close to downtown, but not so much in walking distance. Staff was attentive and friendly and usually helpful.
Overall, a nice place to stay in Austin without spending a fortune. I would return if needing a clean place with good location. However, if you're wanting a downtown location, be prepared to spend quite a bit more at the uppper-end downtown hotels (Hyatt, Radisson, Marriott, Inter-Continental).

The Holiday Inn Town Lake was an average hotel. The location is very good, and if you're lucky, you may get a room that has a view of the the lake. We unfortunately, received a room with a view of the parking garage.Overall, our experience was okay, but nothing to rave about. Our room was small but clean. The staff was friendly.
