Amy's has maintained its great vibe through the years. Wonderful ice cream with surprising flavors all the time. My son went to college out of state and every time he came home, he would visit Amy's at the airport on his way back to Seattle--taking Austin with him.

Mexican Vanilla is outstanding!!! Just be sure to bring cash. They don't accept debit/credit cards. Although, there is an ATM inside.

Quintessential Austin- Amy's is weird and wonderful. Flavor combos can be expensive but they are fun. Good ingredients, good people, good ice cream

Multiple Amy's Ice Cream locations around Austin (as well as at least one in San Antonio). Great local, very creative creamery! Great favors - and don't forget the 'mixings' or special blends. I've been in Amy's on Guadalupe, W. 6th, Arboretum, Burnet Rd, Bee Caves Rd in Westlake, Westgate, and I'm probably leaving a few out. Very nice and creative servers. And Phil's Ice House next door to the Amy's on Burnet has great, likewise-creative burgers.

These people worked hard to build up this chain and did a good job. Sometimes the noisy 'crush-in' process can be annoying, especially if you have a hangover and just want to eat your Mexican vanilla with hot fudge and not wait for some slacker with a stupid hat to finish playing with it, but still worth a visit. Ask your prospective date this question: "Amy's or Sandy's?" It will tell you who they really are.
