My wife and I were amazed at the knowledge and well-mannered waitstaff in this beautiful restaraunt. Very nice place to take the signifigant other for a night out...

“Wonderfully average”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

We stayed in a hotel close by here on our way back to Houston, This place was recomended by a hotel employee as the closest thing to a nice surf and turf type place in the area.

It is a nice enough place inside, and seemed to have a lively bar crowd during happy hour. Obviously a locals hangout probably there more for the bar than the resturaunt which was basicly deserted at 6pm.

The fact that it is a popular locals watering hole helps to explain the rave reviews on this site, Aside from friendly service from our waiter, I certinly didn't see anything about the food to send up fireworks about.

I started by ording a vodka martini that came in a 8oz water glass, which either meant I had 6 oz of vodka or 6 oz of vermouth.... it was the latter, and not really wanting to deal with a bartender who was stumped by a martini I just played it safe by sending it back and ordering a beer.

Our meals were ok, rather bland, not terrible but nothing special by any means. All in all a fairly forgetable experience...I have the impression that the loyal local clientele may be pumping up the reviews just a bit on this one :)

“great place to unwind”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

They were at first unfamiliar with the drink one of us ordered but after a small discussion with the bartender he delivered a great drink and the white chocolate bread pudding is to die for......

“Ask for Marcus”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

what took me so long to get here? nice friendly dining experience...not one complaint about the food..very well executed and just right portions...but what made our evening was the gracious and oh so subtly humorous service provided by Marcus! He is a gem. Looking forward to trying more on the menu, and perhaps an upgrade in rating when i have a better overview.

“Support your local steak house!”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Food is always fresh and is well made. The oysters are some of the best I've had in town and the crab is hard to beat.
It is at the upper end of the cost scale but I will pay a little more to support a local owner - especially when the food is so good.
