I took my two children here for an early dinner and was treated fantastically by the staff. The food was very good as well. I would for sure have the calamari. It was really good. It looks like fun to have creme brulee at this restaurant, but I was afraid my young son might try something with the blowtorch.

We got engaged in Carmelos and returned on our eight wedding anniversary. We went for lunch. There were only a few patrons so we had wonderful attention. The food was good our first visit and even better for our second time around. The serving was comfortably paced and everything was so delicious. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. You will not be disappointed.

Liked: the old limestone house it's in and the location so close to hotels, 6th street and convention center.
Loved: The food. Had the rigatoni con pollo which was to die for. Splurged on the creme brulee for dessert. The waiter carmelized the sugar at our table. Very nice place. Romantic for the couples out there.

We've had several Easter buffets in Austin over the years. This Easter we opted for Carmelo's - we'd always had good food and attentive service. This visit was no exception, while the buffet was not as extensive as sometimes seen, every dish was well prepared and delicious. Our party of 5 did manage to try everything! The buffet was constantly refreshed and appealing.
Add to that the always appreciated valet parking, pleasant atmosphere, the live music and you have a delightful meal.
Carmelo's has a great location in downtown Austin and they're consistently hitting the mark.

SXSW was just over and they were tearing down the entertainment setups so we were more than a little concerned that the restaurant might have been "worn out" from the previous weeks festivities. Not so !! In fact this worked in our favour as we had the place to ourselves with great food and sevice while we were able to converse with the staff a learn about the history of the building
