“Outstanding Mexican”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We went for the cerviche, which is hard to get in our neck of the woods, and were delighted with the food, service and ambience. The top-shelf margaritas were perfectly prepared -- not syrupy sweet like most bars, and with enough alcohol. We went back for a happy hour snack on our last day in Austin just before we headed to the airport. Highly recommended.

“Manuel's rings my bells”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Short and simple ... Manuel's is a true gem among the many mediocre Mexican restaurants in Austin. It ain't Tex Mex by any stretch, but a true fusion of Mexican and southwestern tastes. I lead with that to offset the fact that it's most famous for the queso. Yeah I know ... velvetta and chunks of unidentifiable filler? Nope this queso is smooth and light and a touch of sharpness without any burn. It's downright heavenly and a great start with whatever entree you choose. There's also one out in the 'burbs off rte 183 if you're not staying downtown.

Service is superb. Quick and efficient but with a personal touch. Prices, reasonable for Texas' capitol city. And after lunch or supper you can walk out the front door and take a short stroll up Congress St to check out the most spectacular state Capitol bldg in the USA.

“Great mexican food, fresh, creative, and tasty”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

Had a business lunch here. Loved chili relleno, salsa and chips well done. Service was friendly, efficient and quick but not intrusive. Relaxed atmosphere that worked well for a business lunch. Definitely marked it down for a return next time I am in town. Prices were about right for the offering. Tables a little close to each other, but not terribly so. Menu looked pretty extensive.

“Let's be candid”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

I have been a huge Manuel's fan since it opened. This is consistently the best Mexican food in downtown Austin and among the best in town. It has some competition now with Garrido's and La Condesa, but you won't find a better spot. Not Tx-Mex. More interior with a really good Tortilla Soup. My favorite has always been the stuffed peppers-especially the pork.I try not to go more than once a week.
