“Not for food”
Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Very average food. We shared a combo plate of ribs and pulled pork. The meat it was just ok. But the sides were terrible. The Mac & cheese tasted like packaged. And the collard greens were full of water.
Not a good place to have food

“Not much from the outside,but...”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

I almost drove past it,right off a main road. Looked old and rundown from the outside but what a site inside! Nostalgic things all over, looked great! The menu was small and I wasn't too hungry.Told them I wanted something small and it was no problem to make. I got the chicken, two pieces and it was fresh and tasted fine. They were very accommodating. The place was small with personal type of atmosphere. A must visit if you don't want fast food. Sit down order and talk/relax. It's the best way to enjoy the Texas ambience.

“I wanted to love it!”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

Went to dinner with a group of 9. The wait staff was great and the service was pretty good. We ate family style so here is the breakdown:

Briskett - Outstanding! But it went down hill from there.
Chicken - Just O.K.
Pork - Just O.K.
Ribs - All fat and far less than good.
Fried Green tomatoes - nothing to write home about.

Corn bread - Horrendous!!!!
And I mean, you had to go out of your way to make bread this dry and tasteless. And I love pretty much any corn bread.....except this. And BBQ without corn bread is, well, a complete letdown.

“Could be so much better Fir”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

This was not what I expected at all for a famous BBQ place in a BBQ city. Ordered fried green tomatoes and had to send them back, no flavor tasted frozen and lacked flavor. The waiter suggested a half a chicken dinner, well the chicken was the size of a cornish game hen.
On a good note the collard greens were wonderful.
There are much better places in Austiin for BBQ, so skip this one

“Just adequate food”
Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

A group of about 10 of us went to dinner here. We got the all-you-can-eat barbecue, which was very good for the most part. It wasn't great, but it was pretty good. The sides were disappointing. The mac & cheese was good, but the cornbread was terrible.

The atmosphere is very fun, especially when there is life music of course. But the food itself is probably overrated.
