We wanted a nice place to eat on my last night in the area, so drove into the downtown area and found this place. There was supposedly a half hour wait for a table, but we seated ourselves right in front of the roaring fireplace to wait -- a wonderful place to be on a chilly night -- and within a few minutes our table was ready. It was quite close to other diners, but the noise level was not unreasonable, and it didn't interfere with our conversation.

We started with a kettle of green chile pork, which was the best I've ever had outside of New Mexico. Along with fresh hot flour tortillas, this could have been a meal in itself. Then the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with cheese grits and Mexican corn was unbelievable. The corn was perhaps the best "side" I've ever had, and again, I could have dined on that alone. I really can't describe it except to say that if you ever get a chance to try it, don't pass it up!

Throughout the meal the attention of our servers was excellent, and deserves recognition for outstanding attention.

Wow. Really great service and solid fare. I had the 8 oz filet and a side of the green chile mac 'n' cheese, which stands as some of the best mac 'n' cheese I've ever had. This restaurant is expensive but has good food and nice atmosphere.

The restaurant is right down Congress from the capital building and has great atmosphere. We all got something different from burgers to steak to fish. Everything was amazing. Our waiter was not as polished as you would expect for this nice restaurant almost a little too scattered, but the food especially the desserts made up for the "weird" service. And the prices for what you got at this type of restaurant were very reasonable

I really enjoyed dinner here. We had the New York strip and the filet. Both were cooked perfectly, and rare is hard to get right, at least in most restaurants. The steamed asparagus was also perfect. The green chile mac and cheese was an unexpected surprise. And the creme brûlée was lovely. The only disappointment was the heirloom tomato salad, which tasted like unripe hot house tomatoes. But they got everything else right, so that was simply an outlier.
