“Good food and service”

Found this by chance. Wasn't too busy so we thought we'd try. Given nice little table in the corner. Server was excellent as was our food. Given bread to pick at pre dinner (which I like) both our mains were very nice. Would visit again if in Austin

“A fine place, but not”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

We went with a family group, made reservations that were honored well -- via reservation genie online. Good location, found parking easily. Our table of 8 was in a corner by the cold breezy door. Menu was exciting and interesting, and the waitress was wonderful. It was decorated wonderfully for the season. My (admittedly easy-to-please) family enjoyed the food.
However...
Some of the food (soup, chicken crepes) was lukewarm. The website presents the place a lot nicer than the actuality -- it's not that out-of-the-ordinary. Also presented as quiet, but we had trouble hearing each other over the room noise.
In sum, fine, but not quite up to my expectations.

“Just okay.”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

It's a open, airy room with some tables outside on the narrow sidewalk. We had high expectations for the food from previous reviews however, while the coffee was good, the quiche was heavy and leaden with an unnecessary excess of cheese on top and the breakfast tacos were underfilled and the flavor was just so-so. Maybe on another day it might have been better, but my experience was disappointing.

“Lovely breakfast, traditional Texan interior”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Had Sunday breakfast here around 9am. The place was empty but filled up - assume this is due to Saturday night excesses!

The eggs Benedict was delicious & plentiful. My colleague ordered the oatmeal, which was quite thick & sugary but you come to expect that in the States.

The winning aspect for this place is the interior. It feels a bit 'old world' Texas and had the feel of New Orleans meets Mexico to it (I haven't been to either of these places so that might not be the best explanation...). Anyway, overall, really enjoyed breakfast here. Will probably return before I leave Austin.
