I've been going to La Reyna on S. 1st Street for years. The breakfast is unbelievably cheap. I like the huevos divorciados. The refrieds are usually a thin concoction, not ultra thick like you see in other places, but tasty. I'll admit that sometimes they need salt, but better undersalted than oversalted. The menudo is decent, as well. The barbacoa is greasy, as it is everywhere, but tasty.
I always ask for morning salsa when I go even if it isn't morning. The regular salsa is good, medium heat, but I like the cooked morning salsa with it's punch of heat. It isn't on the menu, you have to know to ask for it.
Dinner options are again, diner style Tex Mex. This is the Tex Mex your grandmother would've made, if she was Hispanic. I like their beef taco plate and the chalupas compuestas. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by anything on the menu.
