We went mid-afternoon on a Saturday and it was quite nice. Didn't have any noise problems at all. I had the "standard" cheese enchiladas and they were a cheese lovers bonanza. Beans and rice were average. It also came with guacamole salad as a 1st course but I saved most of it to have with my dinner. The chips and salsa are great! To me the salsa is a bit on the spicy side but delicious! Margarita was good. My daughter had a huge burrito with rice and beans and she ate the whole thing, and she is tiny! They have a good selection of vegetarian foods. When I go back I am going to order something more along the lines of their specialties such as something shrimp or spinach enchiladas, or even the steak tampiquena.

Food is very good as always! Queso and chips were tasty, fajitas were prepared perfectly! Margaritas were good ,definitely worth the price! Waiter was attentive. Only complaint was it was very, very loud even on our visit on a Thursday evening. Would definitely go back, but just be prepared or a lot of noise.

Food was pretty good, beef fajitas especially. Service was good. Really the only negative was the noise level. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak.

Matt's is an institution in Austin. There are alot of great eating places in Austin and Matt's is one of them. If you travel to Austin a lot this should be on your list to try.

The reason for the missing star? This place is usually nuts!!!

The food is consistently good. The service is usually good. The margaritas are awesome, and the list of tequilas is impressive.

But it gets so crowded and this creates several problems in addition to long waits for a table. First, there is nothing to absorb the sound so it can get really loud. If the dining rooms are fully seated, you can barely hear the people at your table. It can also be extremely difficult to find a parking spot. So, my advice for a good experience, is to go at a weird time.
