The sauce for the pork barbecue was excellent. The fries were also very good. The Apple strudel was the best I've ever had.

After a day of touring Austin, this place was just what we needed! We sat outside in the beer garden and enjoyed ice cold beers. They have a great variety of beer and good bar food. We shared a variety basket of fried foods, which was good.
The service was good and we never felt rushed. The seating is just picnic tables, but the atmosphere is really fun. I'd like to return when they have a band playing.
This is fun place...you should go!
Loved to sit outside and hear the wurstband on Thursday nights. OOP-Pa-Pa.. I understand they are no longer playing. Food is so-so, forget the onion rings... The Beer is great.
We had a rehearsal dinner for 70 here and nothing could have been better. The staff, service and food were excellent. Open for regular diners too. There was a band there which was great too.
We stopped here to get a bite on our way to an event at the Frank Erwin Center. The place was crowded and obviously a very popular pre-event restaurant. I checked their menu online before going to save time. We planned to order the day's happy hour food special as an appetizer. We were told that they weren't offering anything for happy hour because they were "too busy." Including happy hour beer prices, I asked? Nope. Huh? Doesn't make sense to refuse honor an avertisement to knock a couple of bucks off TWO appetizers and some beers because you are busy. We ordered the full sized BBQ stuffed potato skins appetizer to share. It might be pretty good, but because it was served cold we'll never know. Our friends ordered the fried okra and it wasn't but luke warm and was from a bag of frozen bites. I ordered a beer and it wasn't cold. So cold food and warm beer. That was my experience and it was disappointing because this place has been there forever and is iconic. They are resting on their location laurels. Service was fairly prompt and friendly - no complaints there.
