We have never visited Malaga, Spain, but this place has the look and feel of authentic tapas bars we have visited in Madrid and Barcelona. Great wine list and service -- but the food is the real attraction here, and it is marvelous! If you're meat lover, the "Lomo a la Plancha" (seared medium-rare bites of steak) and the Cordera Cacenero (lamb loin marinated and seared) are spectacular. If you prefer seafood, you MUST try the Viuras Serrano (scallops wrapped in Serrano ham and basil leaves, and grilled). And the reviewer that claimed there are very few veggie tapas here is just WRONG -- there are at least 6 vegetarian tapas on the dinner menu. OK, only two of them are vegan -- 3 others have cheese, and one has both cheese and eggs.

The atmosphere at Malaga is wonderful--reminds you of a tapas bar in Sevilla--a relaxed energy. Not so loud, so conversation is enjoyable if you are with friends. The tapas were great (limited vegetarian options, though) and the wine list is varied and extensive. Our waiter had extensive knowledge of the ingredients and was able to make excellent wine suggestions. Plus...the kitchen closes at midnight, so it is great for after a show.

We hadn't been to Malaga for a while. Stopped in after a movie and found the menu changed. previously there had been a good selection of tapas a vegetarian would like. The menu change fixed that. They still have their empanadas -- but those are at best so so. What was particularly frustrating was a manager type who pointed out lots of fish choices and on hearing that fish didn't work she thoughtfully point out a crab dish. Cluelessness is not a selling point anywhere

We went to Malaga after the theater and were treated with good food and a great waiter. The patio seating was near perfect the night we dined and the tapas were pretty tasty! We chose a wine flight and were not disappointed. The food is "good," not great, but the service, atmosphere and wine selection made me want to like this place even more.

This is a superlative example of what a tapas restaurant should be. First: atmosphere. The high energy vibe rivaled the top tapas bars in which I have dined in Spain. Second: Food. The list of small plates was amazing, and the food was flawlessly executed. Third: Service. Our waiter was knowledgeable about both the menu and the wines, and was attentive without hovering. Loved this resto!
