Despite my low rating, the sweet potato biscuits here are great.

My boyfriend and I do not always see eye to eye when it comes to restaurants. I often lean towards vegetarian or foreign; he enjoys the simple pleasures of meat and potatoes. Hoover’s Cooking is a perfect medium for both of us. Located on Manor Road, near UT, the restaurant prides itself on providing “Honest-To-Goodness Good Cooking” at a good value. One of my favorite dishes is the Spinach Salad with chopped bacon, egg & smoked mushrooms with red onion slices, seasoned croutons, and raspberry vinaigrette. Boyfriend raves about the Chicken Fried Steak. Both of us are crazy about the macaroni and cheese and chips/queso. Hoover’s large blackboard displays the daily specials and Happy Hour is everyday, 4:00-7:00pm. The restaurant is kid friendly and can accommodate large parties (we’ve successfully dined with 11 people). If you have a few guests in town or find yourself in the mood for classic comfort food, Hoover’s is the place for you. Oh, and be sure to try the fresh lemonade.
