Description: Shady Grove is located in the heart of 78704 in Austin, TX. Nestled under the shade of a tall pecan grove, we have been serving up Austin-inspired home cooking, cocktails, sunshine and smiles since 1992. In the months of April through September, Shady Grove hosts KGSR's Unplugged at The Grove, one of Austin's longest running free live music series, every Thursday night at 8pm.

Very good food (hatch chili burger that was GREAT! steak tacos were also worth the trip). Atmosphere was laid back and cool. Our waitress was nice, knowledgable, and brought our food out quickly. Definitely one of the "must stops" of Austin, eating out under the oaks and the stars adds to the atmosphere.

A great place to go grab a bite and see some live music! We tend to stay away during the summer, since so much of the seating is outside, but always enjoy it thoroughly when we do go. Well worth a visit!

We actually visited this restaurant in the winter (the Spring/Summer is their high season with a fabulous outdoor patio) but liked it so much we went back the next night! In our case, we sat near a roaring fire and the kitschy ambiance similar to Chuys (they are somehow related) made us feel right at home. The Tex-Mex entrees with green chili sauce are great but we also enjoyed their hamburgers and our kids (who came with us for a 3rd visit shortly thereafter) loved the chicken fried steak. I imagine it is the place to be on a balmy evening in Austin with the fabulous extended patio. Something for everyone - family, couples - an outdoor TV screen, live music - it's a really fun place!

We recently ate here on a Friday evening based on online reviews. Compared to the other places we ate in Austin, this was our least favorite, although there was nothing wrong with it! Food was tasty with a texmex menu. Decor was kind of 50s truck stop/rustic. There seemed to be a lot of diners who were high school age/families and a table with a large group of 20 or so. Service was good. Because it was chilly, we ate indoors; the outdoor areas looked like they would be fun. It is located along restaurant row with lots of choices of dining. Had ample parking when we were there.

We went on a Monday afternoon at 2:00 and had to wait 20 minutes for an outside table. The place was rockin! Our family of 7 went and sat outside. The weather was perfect. I can't say enough about how good the food was but then again you can put green chilies on anything and it is usually good. I recommend the tamale cakes. They are so good! I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.
