Wandered around the SoCo district on our recent visit to Austin and was really interesting seeing all of the graffiti/artwork/sculptures/different shops etc.

Didn’t eat in any of the restaurants but did have a look in a few of the shops. The shops were very unique with some lovely items if not a bit expensive.

Would recommend for anyone visiting Austin.

Public parking garage, which is probably the only place you will find a spot, is $10 for the first two hours, $15 for 2-3 and up for more hours.

We went on a Sunday and there was a nice open air craft fair with maybe a dozen tents. A nice variety of items.

The stores had a variety of junk to expensive items. It just depends on what store you went into.

Allen’s is a must stop! So many boots, belts and hats.

It gets pretty busy early in the day and I would imagine just gets more crowded as the day goes on.

Modern Austin, with varied restaurants, music and things to see. Beautiful view of downtown. A great place to spend the afternoon or evening.

We went here with kids, and everyone enjoyed the trip. There were heaps of quirky shops & restaurants, some nice icecream spots and even a trendy place for a hair cut. The kids really enjoyed all the interesting things in the shops. This place completely deserves its must-do, trendy reputation.

Lots of small retail shops and restaurants. It wouldn't be on my must see list; there are too many great attractions in Austin.

SoCo was cooler then I expected, and I am used to Portland, and SanFran.
The Shops are unique, the food was great. You got to check out Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds.
Keep working it Austin you are on to something.

I’ve been coming to visit my mum in Austin since 2004 and the saddest thing to see is how the SoCo I loved is fast disappearing. On the left side going south where once Docs bar and some if the best shops were, the area has been demolished to make way for apartments no doubt with trendy expensive shops below. Walking further down the brilliant Continental Club survives and the Austin Motel on the other side still stands, and further up the area still retains some of the old charm but talking to the shop owners there it seems its only a matter of time before SoCo becomes just another extension of the new developments that now stretch into the sky between Congress and Guadalope on 1st and 2nd street. It seems that in the rush to modernise the fastest growing city in the USA , the things that made Austin a truly unique and lovely place are being removed, to be replaced by stuff you can see anywhere in any city across America. Visit while you can!

A great place to go enjoy shops and food. There were some local markets and everything from ice cream and sushi to burgers and BBQ. A lot of fun!
