“Great shopping”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

The SoCo district is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. I walked up one side and down the other, in and out of all the shops. Everyone is amazingly friendly - I was greeted at every store I entered. There's an interesting block of truck-type eateries: one made from an old schoolbus, a cupcake shop in a silver Gulfstream and many more. For food everything is available - lots of healthy choices. Great vintage clothing stores.

“Don't know what the hype is about”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

We were excited to visit SoCo but aside from some fabulous restaurants, there's just a bunch of honky tonk store selling cowboy boots and Mexican chachkis. Not worth it. No place to park either.

“FOOD, SHOPPING, WALKING AROUND”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

If you thought 6th Street was all the fun Austin had to offer, you were mistaken!!!

South Congress is where it's at!
Awesome handcrafted goodies and pretty things at various outdoor markets, boutique shops for the trendy, great restaurants and stands for tasty food and authentic Texas boot stores to get your Luccheses!

Places to hit here:
1.) Joe's Cafe ("I love you so much" graffitied on the side. Great for a cute pic)

2.) Allen's boots. Get your authentic Lucchese's here for a reasonable price.

3.) Wahoo's Fish Taco. Cool decor, quick food, pretty tasty.

4.) The artists' market. So many cool trinkets and artwork. Support the local arts, people!

“Good for locals and tourists”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

I always bring out-of-towners to SoCo. It's fun, quirky and very Austin. Good choices for eating and shopping and definitely for people watching. The only drawbacks are how very crowded it is and the abysmal parking situation. Now that most nearby streets are residential parking only, it's even worse. I understand from the residents' perspective, but the city needs to have a better solution for parking. But other than that, the wide range of local trailers, restaurants and shops is great.

This is a very eclectic area to explore. There are shops, and food options that you can't find many other places....it is quirky.
