Great 5 or 6 block area of Austin with unique shops, restaurants, food trucks, etc. Hopdaddy is here! Nice area to stroll and play tourist.

Stroll up and down to enjoy the eclectic crowd. Shop in some unique stores. Dine. Listen to music. Visit the food trucks. Parking available on side streets. A couple of cool old hotels are there too. Sometimes special events like show-and-shines. Worth a wander.

Food, vintage and people watching! One of my favorite places in Austin. Food trucks are awesome for quick cheap meals. Go to Lucy in disguise with diamonds and try on costumes.

It's not your average touristy experience, then again, it's Austin. The customers are as interesting as the shops. Food is superb - from snow cones to the Magnolia Cafe.

I always tell visitors to come here. There are hip little independent shops showcasing Austin's craftspeople, good restaurants, and a huge enclave of Austin's famous food trucks. It can be an absolute zoo on weekends with crowds of people on the sidewalks but this makes it fantastic for people-watching. I would advocate getting a latte at Jo's Coffee on the northern end of the strip and sitting a spell on their patio to watch the world go by. If you're hungry, many of the restaurants are classic Austin, and pretty much all of them are independent, not big chains. I'd recommend Home Slice Pizza, Hopdoddy for burgers and cocktails, Perla's for an amazing weekend brunch, or Guero's, if you're looking for the full-on Tex-Mex experience.
