Great hotel and within walking distance of lots of things to do. We went to see the nightly bat flight and weren't disappointed. We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the great breakfast. My only complaint would be that there were lots of people in the hallway until after 2-3 in the morning wrapping up their parties (I guess they forgot they were not at home and that some people actually do sleep during those hours)! Will stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others. There is a store right around the corner and numerous eating establishments across the street.

The Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown in Austin Texas was a very good place to stay during our business trip. It was two short blocks away from our training site, was perfectly air conditioned and comfortable during the summer heat, and the staff were helpful with local information. The room rates were as expected, the bathrooms had great lighting, and the complimentary breakfasts were appreciated.

Found a good price for a couple of nights so decided to take advantage of it. Very happy with the hotel. Staff was friendly, rooms were nice and clean, free breakfast, and good location to many restaurants/bars. Valet is a little expensive ($25 per night) but they have the flash valet so that you can text to get your car ready. Very handy. Would definitely stay here again for the next time wanting to hang out in Austin.

Weekend stay with family. Overall excellent location, clean rooms with nice amenities (beds, sofa bed, decor, kitchenette and easy wifi, only exception was awful toilet paper, ugh). It was a wonderful base camp for exploring downtown/6th street. Front desk staff and valet were on their game--we got lots of helpful recommendations and the car was always available after calling ahead. An otherwise very positive experience was seriously damaged by truly horrible housekeeping and food service staff, who treated us as if our presence was a severe imposition on their lives. At 9AM on Sunday (prime breakfast hour) we waited for several elevators to even get down to the breakfast area, as all were full of housekeeping carts. In fact, when 3 of us finally had given up waiting and tried to enter one of the elevators, we actually met with eye rolling and heavy sighs. Once we arrived at breakfast, ALL hot food items were gone, there was no milk for coffee and the swarms of people were busy hovering around the remaining offerings. There was no staff in sight. We went ahead and just got our drinks and sat down, at which time I finally saw a food service person and asked for milk. (3 requests in, someone finally brought some back). After over an hour at breakfast, waiting for food to be restocked and the incredible lines, we attempted to ride an elevator back up, only to meet with the same cart situation. As we waited for guest to exit the elevator, one of the staff actually shoved in the rear door with a cart and began frantically pushing the door close button. We were so disgusted, we just let her go alone. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel due to location and all other amenities and staff in relation to the price. I just hope that someone recognizes the very serious attitude problem that runs rampant in housekeeping staff.

Stayed in this hotel in January 2013 and found it to be nothing short of excellent. Decent sized room, fantastic free breakfast, very helpful staff and excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: When I went there was building work at the front of the hotel, so maybe choose a room towards the ba...

I always have a positive experience at the Hampton Inn on San Jacinto in Downtown Austin. The staff is always pleasant, the rooms, especially the beds are comfortable, the cost is reasonable for the area and the location affords access to many activities and restaurants in the area. My #1 place to stay when I visit Austin.
