“Austin's Famous SoCo Does Not Disappoint!”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

South Congress Avenue, known to locals as SoCo is one of Austin's most hip and famous districts. Bars, music venues, restaurants, art galleries, and gift shops make SoCo the perfect destination. SoCo is home to The Continental Club, which is well known for hosting some of Austin's most famous acts. Lucy in Disguise is Austin's "it spot" for costumes and you'll want to spend some time browsing all of the shops along SoCo. Hit up Tesoro to grab amazing and unique gifts and housewares.

“Historic Avenue with Massive Appeal!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

With the phenomenal State Capitol anchoring the North and the casual but seriously hip SoCo district located South of Lady Bird Lake, Congress Avenue stages monuments and venues that appeal to a broad range of visitors. Congress represents well the transition from Waterloo, a trading post on the banks of the Colorado, to a city, long dominated by State Politics and the University of Texas (not mutually exclusive), and now a techtrendy beacon born from those very institutions. As ever, Congress Avenue remains the focal point for our great tradition embracing an equally grand future as Austin gains momentum Internationally, staging the first Formula 1 race in the US after many years. Congress Avenue becomes the stage for multiple events and venues to celebrate the event and to introduce Austin to an ever broadening audience. Welcome!

“Lots of local Austin in one place”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

Congress Avenue has so much to offer - from the Capitol all the way to 71/Ben White. So many local shops and restaurants. Lots of local flavor and character. Don't miss First Thursday!
