“Coolest Beer Bar in Austin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

The Whip In is arguably the coolest beer bar in Austin. They have dozens and dozens of beers on tap and some of the city's best Indian food, all served in a convenience store/cowboy bar type atmosphere. Also, the outdoor seating is phenomenal.

“Refreshing no frills just good times, food and craft beers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

I was referred her by uncle Billy's brewery. Said they had a great selection of bottle or go on top of the drafts. Also said how helpful they would be advising. Right again. A must visit next time in Austin.

“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

Used this as our local for a few days in Austin.
Really friendly and helpful staff, a fantastic selection of beers on tap and more beer and wine for sale in their small supermarket section.
Good basic food too

“Who knew?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

A longtime Austinite friend took us to the Whip In which is, I suspect, how one would find this place. From the outside, it still looks like the convenience store it once was, and kind of still is. The lamb vindaloo was hot and good as well as good and hot. The naan bread seemed a little more like a tortilla than naan bread to me, but made the perfect wrap for burger sliders which were delicious. This place is quintessential Austin. Weird, tasty, cheap, live music, young people, craft beers, generous bartenders, bacon and vegan on the same blackboard menu-Austin. I can't wait to go again.

“So Austin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

It had been awhile since I'd been here and they've really ramped up this place. There are now more than 70 beers on tap. On a Friday night, the place was jamming. The bartender was Austin friendly and cheerful, letting me sample several beers before choosing. If you don't like beer, there was also a wine bar. The food was Austin Indian - inexpensive and delicious. They also have a large takeout beer and wine retail shop. It ain't fancy, but it sure is fun.
