If you are looking for food that's a bit out of the ordinary and some fairly off beat patrons to share space with, I would recommend this place.

I went for lunch. The inside was extremely crowded, tables too close to each other and noise level was very loud. So we sat outside and they were happy to turn on two outdoor heaters. The outside was pleasant and quaint. My lunch was delicious, but overpriced. I would definitely would go back again.

We had wandered down South Congress for shopping and someone mentioned this little French-Vietnamese restaurant.
We walked a couple of blocks and found it easily. It was a pretty day and we could have eaten outside but opted for the dining room.
After Vietnamese Coffee we enjoyed the Mushroom Tofu Bun soup special and the House Special pate and pork belly Banh Mi sandwich. Washed it down with Asahi Black Label beer. What an unexpected treat!

Elizabeth Street Cafe is a French-Vietnamese Fusion restaurant. They have everything from pho, bahn mi, and bun to crepes, macaroons, and tartlets. The food was fresh, tasty, and very well made. I had the Keffir Fried Chicken vermicelli bowl which was delicious. If you like spicy drinks, try the Saigon Morning punch. It's made with fresh jalapenos and definitely has a kick when you drink it (Definitely use the straw or your lips will be burning). We went on a Saturday night around 6:45 and had over an hour wait, so keep that in mind and get there early. They don't take reservations or have a call ahead list.

Elizabeth St Cafe is a very hip, Vietnamese fusion restaurant in a hip part of town. The decor and outdoor seating are nice touches to an excellent selection of Vietnamese dishes. We tried the Bun and the Singapore noodles - both wonderful. Yes, the prices are a bit high but the food, location and atmosphere justify the pricing. We will be going there again.
