“Low key unknown pub”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

My wife and I happened upon this little place on our way to pick up some Thai Food and strolled in. I like my microbrews and they had probably about 18 on tap = just what I was looking for. All the beers on tap also had their own wooden plaque that looked like it had been hand carved recently.

I can't speak for the food, but the beer and wine was very good, the atmosphere was very low key, and the service was good. We went there on a Saturday afternoon, so obviously not the best judge of how hoppin it gets on a weekend, but it was a nice contrast to a lot of the other places in the upper Guadalupe area.

“A gem of a place!”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

On three visits there we sampled different items on the menu (salade nicoise, Pascal burger, tarte aux légumes) and some of their impressive beer offerings. All superb. It's a small, unpretentious place. Best to go there at non-peak times. Service isn't fast, but that's because each dish is lovingly and attentively prepared.

“Interesting beer bar & bisto in Austin”
Reviewed December 24, 2011

Great new place on Guadalupe just north of the University. It's small with outstanding
atmosphere but you must come with the attitude that you the customer must do your
share in making the evening great. And then it certainly will be! Probably best to come before 6:30pm if you don't
want to hang around waiting for a space to stand! Always seems crowded -- here's
the drill: first you look for a place to sit or stand; then you get in line to order at the bar
-- extensive beer list. very limited wine list (try the Portuguese red), and delightful
drinks made sans liquor ( 75 Years in Provence is highly recommended). They have
a limited menu of pub food and small plates with a French flavor. You need to find
your own silverware and napkins from boxes on the tables, but getting your own
water provides an opportunity to size up the display of old small photos from the 30's
or 40's. Overall just a great place to hang out in the north University neighborhood in
