Description: We have traveled extensively in France, and Artisan Bistro (located in the suburban community of Lakeway) is as good or better than most of the restaurants we visited in France! The regular menu changes seasonally and is supplemented by daily specials. The thoughtfully edited list of French wines served offers appealing selections at various price points. Service is friendly and personal. The owner/chef at Artisan Bistro is a classically trained pastry chef, so the baked goods from breads to pastries are out of this world -- worth a visit in their own right! This is a real "find." We hope you'll include it in your Austin reviews.

If you are looking for a French Bistro to remind you of your last visit to France, you might want to plan a visit to the Artisan Bistro in NW Austin. It is located in the Lakeway Commons center at RR620 and Lakeway Blvd. near Lake Travis.
The chef always plans a wonderful menu, and the restaurant offers a wide selection of French wines and pastries (all homemade daily). Although there may be a small quartet or solo artist entertaining on weekends, it is quiet enough for lively conversation whether you are seated at a table or at the wine bar. And the kitchen is open and accessible so you can watch the chef in action preparing your dinner. The duck confit, French beans, or pommes frites are among many delicious selections which may change with the season. Enjoy happy hour or the many special holiday celebrations with family or friends.

First rate french bistro food, carefully prepared by chef in an open kitchen. Meticulous preparation, great baked goods too.

Kind and quality table service and an excellent wine list complete this hidden gem. A little pricey, but worth it. For a slice of France in Lakeway, this is it.

I have been a patron of this local Lakeway restaurant since it opened 18 months ago. the food is outstanding and authentic bistro cuisine. the environment is super comfortable, making Artisan a warm, friendly neighborhood refuge. We need to continually visit in order to ensure that Laureen and Cesidio and their staff are always there for us.

The Artisan Bistro is a gem -- better by far than many of the restaurants we've visited in France! Located in a strip center near the entrance to Lakeway, the Artisan Bistro offers a sophisticated French menu, attractive decor, a thoughtfully-edited list of French wines, and excellent service.

Menu offerings change seasonally, but staples include classics like escargots, salade Nicoise, French onion soup, coq au vin, ratatouille, and cassoulet. Daily specials include one or more fish entrees and are uniformly delicious. Don't miss the hearty green salad with baked goat cheese and bacon or the tarte tatin (apple tart).

The man in charge is a classically-trained pastry chef, and the Bistro's bakery offers a mouth-watering variety of crunchy-crusted breads and sublime pastries. We especially recommend the pain perdu (French toast).
