No other theater comes close (although I will always love Alamo). You can't beat the ease of online ticketing and reserving the place you love to sit during a movie. It's fun to meet up with friends ahead of time and chat over light food and drinks. You can also take your food/drinks in with you. The only downside to VC is if you order your food late enough it's not ready before the movie starts--then you get a buzzer and have to leave the movie to retrieve your food. VC! There's a better way to do this! Great independent and foreign movies. Thumbs up!

Nice food, great wine and drinks, comfy chairs. You can bring your food into the film. Yes, it's more expensive, and by god is it worth it! This is a really great date night and so much better than the popcorn and candy scene at typical cinemas. Smart that they validate your parking--makes it just affordable for what you get.

I have a personal dislike of movie theaters that have assigned seating. The best seat in the house is one with nobody tall in it! How do you know that in advance?? But the seats are very comfortable and screen visibility here is not a problem IF you aren't assigned a seat on the first row -- that row requires a lot of neck craning to look at the screen, and is to be avoided. The theater is also difficult to reach during the major construction taking place now on 2nd and 3rd Streets downtown. Perhaps in a year or so, I'll give them another try.

Violet Crown Cinema is a great place to enjoy a movie. Food and drink are offered with free refills on popcorn. My wife and I love the fact that VC takes reservations so you don't have to arrived early for a good seat. Most weekends are booked so be sure to call a few days in advance.

This place has so spoiled us that we really can't go to the movies anywhere else. Of course, sometimes we have to but it is a real struggle. We absolutely love this place. Let's start with the online ticket purchase. Easy to use, pick your own seat, show up 1 minute before the show (or earlier if you want to enjoy some food or drinks). Next, the parking - free! Right behind the theatre and a great spot is always available. One word of caution, the free parking is for four hours. If you stay longer, you will be charged the garage rate. Third reason to love the place - the cafe which offers good food and well priced adult beverages. You can take your food and drink in the theatre. They don't serve in the theatre like Alamo which we like better. Not as disruptive. The seats in the theatre are extremely comfortable. There are very few previews. And finally....the crowd is eclectic but have one thing in common - they are there to see a movie. The place has a bit of an "art house" vibe and tend to get releases that aren't shown elsewhere in town (Jiro Dreams of Sushi was a real winner this year). The place encourages us to see films we normally might not have seen. We have probably been 20 times or more and have never had anything other than a great experience. One more word of caution, the front row is awfully close. We tried it once and really didn't like it. Yet many people seem to love it.
