Michelle at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was simple and clean. Just what we needed. It is an 'extended stay' suite, so remember to bring shampoo and conditioner. Hair dryer is provided. If you forget anything, just ask the front desk. We plan to stay there again in May.

This "extended stay" hotel is in a great location near "SoCo" just outside downtown Austin and provides a walkable stay - except that you cannot walk about the room without tripping on something. The bed in the "Deluxe King Suite" was shoved up against one wall such that the person on that side could not get into or out of bed without crawling over the other person. Opening up the sofa-bed for the third guest required moving a two-drawer dresser which was also the base for the big old tube style TV. The opened sofa bed then went toe-to-toe with the king bed. After 10 p.m. on the first evening we discovered the prior occupant's refrigerator contents in one of the kitchen cabinets. My wife took the bag of surprises to the front desk, where she was promptly directed to take it out herself to the trash room - how considerate. Oh, the kitchen cabinets - a handle came off one and there were no drinking glasses to be found in this "fully-equipped kitchen" which generously provided exactly 3 plates, 3 bowls, 3 coffee mugs, 3 forks, 3 knives and 2 spoons... and in the closet exactly 3 hangers - for the 3 adults staying in the room. No frills - OK, I can handle that. But paying for a tiny "Deluxe King Studio Suite" with completely indifferent staff, what a joke!

My husband and I stayed here for a conference at the downtown convention center. The location was within walking distance. Free parking in the hotel parking lot meant we didn't have to worry about paying every time we went somewhere. We ended up walking almost everywhere anyway. The rooms are plain but fairly well kept. Our room was very quiet. We hardly heard any hallway noise. Everything in the room worked fine. The only thing I wasn't expecting is no shampoo in the bathroom. The hotel is well located for any downtown destination and also S. Congress shops and restaurants. It is next door to Threadgills with good food and beer garden concerts. Lots more restaurants down Barton Springs Rd. The front desk staff was very friendly. Made sure we knew about parking permits needed for special events in the area, and that we understood the limited housekeeping. Housekeeping is only once a week unless you request it and pay extra. The wireless internet was only $4.99 for the whole stay. The price was very inexpensive. I would definitely stay here again. I think they also allow pets.

The Homestead Studio Suites hotel in downtown Austin is one of the best hotels with kitchens we have stayed in. The personnel were very helpful, the location couldn't be better, the kitchen was supplied with everything we needed and it was very clean. The front desk had some toiletries we had forgotten at no cost and, that was surprising and made us feel our being there was welcomed by staff. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you're looking for location--specifically downtown Austin-- this is a great place. After that, not too much good to say.

I will give credit to Nick at the front desk. Very courteous young man who tried to help with the problems listed below. Unfortunately, he was a one-man show that evening.

It was obvious the room had not been cleaned well. The maid apparently wanted to get done early. The bathroom was dirty-- the bed had wrong size sheets (twin on a queen)-- the plates and cups...let's just say we didn't want to try... No shampoo-- the bed was harder than the floor... Those little things you expect to be there when you're paying this much for a hotel. If I wanted mediocre, I'd pay for mediocre...

Oh, and there is a charge for internet...

Great location in the center of the city, but hotel was dirty, old, and was too expensive for what you get.

The hotel is a great almost downtown location and the price is right, but thats where the benifits end. My wife and I were traveling for a trade show at the Palmer Event Center (which is right accross the street). We had reserved a queen bed and upon arrival we were given a double or twin bed. They didn't have another room with a queen for us to move into. Speaking about the bed, it was horrible, perhaps the most uncomfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on.
The hotel also kinda felt more like a college dorm than a downton Austin hotel. But all in all it was ok. The room wasn't nice or fancy, but was clean. We had a dish that wasn't clean but the folks at the front desk swapped it out with no problems. They also had soap and shampoo if you ask.
I would reccomend this hotel to a friend who was looking for a great rate on an Austin hotel, and if they were not looking for a 3 star or higher hotel.
