Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole's highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. My wife and I recently spent three nights in Austin for a friend's wedding. We had heard about this restaurant prior to our trip, and made sure to set aside an evening to dine here. Boy are we glad we did. It ended up being the highlight of our trip (aside from watching our friends join together in marriage, of course).

They have an excellent wine list that's sure to please everyone. We did the tasting menu and ended up getting around seven or eight courses. They are extremely flexible with the tasting menu, which is very nice. We basically left everything in the hands of our waiter and he did an excellent job selecting courses that we would love. We got a little bit of everything so we left feeling like we'd gotten a pretty comprehensive view of what the restaurant has to offer. Everything we had was excellent--incredible flavors and delightful presentation.

The service was fantastic as well. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. He really went out of his way to make sure our evening at Uchicko was special.

The decor is very nice. Warm and inviting. The restaurant was crowded but there was still a nice, intimate feel. It's classy without being the least bit pretentious.

Make sure you get the fried ice cream for dessert! I cannot say enough about it and have been thinking about it ever since. If I ever get back to Austin I will return to Uchiko just for that.

All in all a great experience. You will leave with a signficantly lighter wallet, but it's well worth it.

We had 7 courses of incredible great food. It was like discovering a new galaxy of taste.
It is not a cheap place, but the price is absolutely ok for this quality.

Uchi and Uchiko have kept up over the years on their very high standards of quality, innovation, and originality. Uchiko takes reservations and that's an added bonus. The price have gone up in the past two years. It is still worth it, but not a cheap experience.

My husband and I had the most incredible meal that lasted over 3 hours with dishes that delighted our tummies but also our minds. We asked our server, Susan, to bring out her favorite dishes and she was thoughtful of my 'no spices please' and generous with my husband's 'I love spice'. We shared and enjoyed 14 incredible dishes including 2 amazing desserts in a 3 hour time span that was so special. The restaurant did not rush us in the least, bringing out one dish, letting us savor and enjoy each and every morsel, allowing us time in between to relish each component on the plate.
Uchiko will see us again and again.

I honestly will never look at sushi the same way again! Make reservations in advance and prepare to be wowed! Be sure to order the brussel sprouts along with whatever rolls you choose.
