“Best Wedding Reception Venue Ever!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Our daughter had a evening wedding and reception for 80 people on the Snack Bar's patio/parking lot this February. EVERYTHING was perfect! Bethany, Karl and their staff exceeded all of our (extremely high) expectations. The food, the service, the bar and the set up were all handled with a quiet, professional, artistic ease.....the wedding guests are still remarking on how amazing this venue was! We were a bit nervous the location would be too busy and "public", but instead it felt intimate and really fun. Chef Thomas made sure the food was plentiful and fabulous (and beautiful), the Bar Chef Lucy Rose was great and I didn't see one dirty dish the whole night. The snack bar staff were super ninjas! Doug and his very helpful dog did a wonderful job helping with "set up" and Karl was there until the end helping take down all the decorations. I literally can't think of one thing that could have been improved on or done differently. Every request we made was answered with a smile and a big "YES"...... Thanks for making such a special day perfect and worry free!!!

“Fun eclectic eatery”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

What a fun place! No point in sitting inside here because all the fun is outside. I guess if you don't like dogs you should sit inside because the outdoor seating area is very dog friendly complete with water bowls so fido can join in on the fun. This light restaurant and bar seems to belong somewhere on a beach rather than the middle of Austin, but since this is Austin, you expect the unexpected.

The nice selection of beers prominently displayed drew us in (as well as a pack of adorable dogs) but we decided to get some snacks as well (makes sense given the name). Just like the eclectic seating and atmosphere the menu has a bit of everything done in a fun and off the wall preparation. The avocado quinoa was very tempting but we opted for the bean dip with pickled jalapenos and fresh friend root chips and assorted veggies.

Service was professional, friendly, and prompt. A very enjoyable stop while walking on South Congress.

“Good healthy option”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Really good food, and pretty healthy, too. The hummus was good and had a spicy kick. The veggie burger and the grilled root skewers were great.

“Loved this place!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

This was my first trip to Austin and a friend suggested we try Snack Bar. We went for breakfast and I had the Tomago Yoko which was amazing! Okonomayaki sytle pancake with shrimp, bacon, leeks, bonito topped with two fried eggs. I will go back to Austin just to order that breakfast!

“Best patio seating with amazing food”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

So impressed with staff, servers, outdoor seating, fab people-watching patio and gourmet new american food that is unexpected when only seeing bland name of this place.
Very dog-friendly patio and cool staff treated my pup like a king! An award-winning dish was recommended and I almost swooned with the presentation and taste.
My new fav place on S. Congress!
