Franklin's has a reputation. They have been all over TV shows. There is plenty of hype. There was quite a line and we showed up at noon.(what were we thinking?) Our spot in line was about 10 people behind the "last man standing" (last person guaranteed food), but we elected to wait. Rudy's would still be there if we did not get anything. We waited for one hour before we got to order. Brisket, pulled pork, beans, ribs, sausage were part of our order. We missed out on the turkey. Aaron Franklin himself was there cuttin and greetin everyone. I can see how some folks might be put out by the wait or the limited hours, but that is how it is. It was not a surprise to wait. I witnessed some extraordinary service by Aaron and crew. We met several interesting people in line.
Bottom line is that the experience was great. My buddy would not wait in line for an hour again, but I would. Beer was available as you wait once you get inside. I had a nice Thirsty Planet IPA (no Thirsty Goat). The brisket was awesome. The Beans were really good. The pulled pork would give anyone in Memphis a run for their money. The ribs were great. The sausage was not very good, but that did not dampen the lunch. (not like you go away hungry).
