Main restaurant was full due to a conference. Only place to eat was a dark bar, not what we had planned for a group of women. The spa restaurant took 45 min to get food since they order out and it is delivered. Spa prices are really high and the spa is not that plush. We have had better for less cost. We ended up getting back in the car and driving down the street to a deli for lunch. We did like our spa treatments. However, two of us got a scrub and instead of a vichy shower we had to get up and go into the locker room shower to rinse off. Strange! Our spa treatment at the MGM Grand in Vegas cost less and was way more attractive. If I was staying at this resort then I might think differently but to make a special trip to the spa here, I will go somewhere else next time I vist.

This is a great place if you want to stay away from the busy streets of Central Austin.

Be careful that management is using a strategy of complicated pricing so what your
final invoice will be about 20% above the advertised room rate. For a European used to net prices it is a bit confusing.

Room Tip: Get a room looking over the rooms.

Recently stayed at the Omni Barton Creek Resort. The landscape is beautiful and the hotel looks nice. My room's furniture was nice and functional and the bed was comfortable. But the sinks and tubs did not drain - it took about five minutes for the sink to drain after shaving. Also, the outlets on the walls are limited and the outlets built into the lamps are horrible. Plugged my phone in and the plug slipped out. Back in and it slipped out. Checked all the lamp outlets and they had this problem. In this day and age a hotel has to have better charging capabilities.

Room Tip: Do not stay here if charging phones, tablets, laptops are important

Barton Creek is an older resort in the Austin area, but it has been renovated to keep up with the times. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated; however, ours was in the original section and needed more light in the foyer area of the room. When I asked housekeeping about this they left a light bulb ; however, there was no fixture to put it in making the entrance way where one might be pressing their clothes very dark. That was my only complaint. The rooms were comfy, the housekeeping was efficient, and the food at this resort is exceptional. There are nice fitness facilities, spa for treatments, shops in lobby, fantastic golf courses and a wonderful nature trail to explore.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are accessible to all three buildings without changing elevators.

The property is showing its age as evidenced by furnishings and bathrooms that have worn or broken fixtures. The bed was comfortable and a big plus with an easy duvet not tucked in and covered with clean sheets
Checking in was a pain in the neck. No sign of bellhop when I pulled up to leave luggage and the self park was a *long* uphill walk back with luggage. So you can either pay the $25 per day valet or haul your luggage up the hill
Check in was fine but the Trip Advisor award on the wall did not seem to influence the staff to ask or engage with patrons. Internet was free at a basic connection rate 0.5Mb so it was just about useable. To get a better rate you had to pay
The bottle of water in the room was listed at $9 per bottle...that seemed excessive and double what I have seen in upmarket hotels around the country even New York
Overall disappointing and not a 4* trip advisor hotel IMO

Nice views and all, but three drinks at the bar cost $44. Dialup is free, but normal 2013 levels of internet speed will cost you $15/day. And bottled water in our room is $9. Let that sink in. Not even cruise ships screw you over that badly.

The rooms are, meh, okay I guess, but nothing special. Unless you're a golf fetishist, don't bother. There are about a million cooler and more affordable places to stay in the Austin area. This one's for middle-aged bankers who tuck their polo shirts into their shorts and don't think about how much money they're spending.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.
