“Great Stay!!!”
Reviewed April 10, 2011

We just got back from our stay at Barton Creek. We really had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. I really wanted to write this review to mention the wonderful staff. We spent 4 nights at the resort. Every step of the way, we encountered professional, friendly, and highly competent staff. Our kids had a great time playing mini golf, swimming in the pool, and enjoying the resort activities. We will definitely be back!

The resort has enjoyed many wonderful families during this year's Spring Break Holiday and are ready for a spectacular Easter Carnival during the upcoming Easter Holiday. The Summer is always a terrific time to plan a family getaway to the resort.

Went to this resort for a several day medical meeting. The resort is quite nice location on a hillside overlooking scenic valleys and hills and the adjacent Fazio golf course. The staff was pleasant and attentive and I am sure that this is one of the best resorts in the Austin Texas area.
We noted that many of the rooms in the tower overlook a not so scenic receiving dock area. The bathrooms have a fairly ordinary shower /bath and not a separate shower and several of our colleagues thought the shower water pressure was low. The rooms themselves are fairly ordinary and unremarkable for such a nice resort. The bathroom amenities were odd, some lotion and shower gel showed up later in our stay. Our room was not ready for us to check into until the last possible moment (4 PM) , this happened to another friend of mine at the meeting as well. The spa is odd and the locker room is oddly on several separate floors and one needs to walk up and down a rather long set of stairs to get to the pool area. The pool area and several areas around the golf course such as the hole #1 Crenshaw course tee box were littered with cups that needed picking up! I saw ketchup stains by the pool hot tub area (gross). Also, our morning coffee was not very hot.
On the positive side, there were several bookshelves around the resort with interesting reading materials! Our room bedding was well made and comfortable.
On the whole, the resort was very good and the staff was friendly and responsive. I am sure it is one of the best resorts in the area, but I think there is definitely room for improvement for this to be considered a top tier resort.

Room Tip: high floor, balcony room a +, golf course view.

The resort appreciates this past guest's feedback on their overall impressions further to attending a recent meeting with us. We always focus on allowing guests to access their accommadations as soon as they arrive. Many wish to enjoy a terrific round of golf, a spa service or a leisurly meal by the pool. Many thanks on the nice feedback regarding our associates along with the restful nights sleep enjoyed. We continue to focuson all aspects of keeping this beautiful place very tidy at all times.

Great historic hotel. HUGE room overlooking the golf course, great bars and simply a great stay.

I only wish I could have enjoyed it more rather than be there on a business trip!

Very clean, I wouldn't say it is "dated" because that sounds a little negative but don't want others to get the impression that this is a new hotel. Old school. Love it.

Parking was a bit pricy (I think it was $25 a day for valet).

Appreciate this favorable review. Many of our business guests return to the resort with friends and family to relax and enjoy. As the Spring continues and the Texas Wildflowers come alive, we would look forward to welcoming many of you back for a great visit.

This resort delivered in most areas except value and food. The number of extras is extensive and the buffet breakfast is average. The mini bar is expensive as is the golf course. On the plus side the staff were friendly however a request for a better hairdryer elicited no response. The spa is a dismal place and not user friendly. It's a slightly frustrating place to stay.

We appreciated learning the details noted in this past guest's review. It is always important to respond satisfactorily to all guest requests. We have continued to receive very favorable feedback on the resort's breakfast buffet and will continue to monitor. Our Three Springs Spa along with the extensive Fitness Center area is also a very highly utilized area of the resort.

My boyfriend had bought me a weekend spa package for two for $1,500. When I called to reserve our room they told us that we could only use it on certain weekends and we could not use it on that particular weekend. After getting us extremely annoyed the Barton Creek rep decided we could use it because it was a gift card and not a gift certificate. We requested a king bed and were suprised to find that they had given us two double beds. We called the front desk and they told us that just because we requested a king there was no guarantee. After getting us annoyed and upset again they switched us to a king room. We has been looking forward to sitting on a patio with beautiful views and having a glass of wine. We went to the wine bar to find a small patio with dirty tables overlooking the tennis courts. Again, very disappointing. We had also been looking forward to laying by the pool al day but decided against that after seeing that the pool was over rub with screaming kids. At least we had our spa day to look forward to...... Not so much. We had made appointments starting at 8am and arrived at 7:45 am as the spa rep had requested. We sat downstairs in front of the spa desk until 8:05 and finally found someone who worked at BC who explained that we had to go to the spa shop to check in....not sure why there is a spa check in desk downstairs or why nobody told us where to check in. So we go upstairs and check in and the woman tells us to go to our locker rooms and put robes on. His masseuse never showed up and so another masseuse stepped in to do his massage, by this time it's already 8:30. We had signed up for hot stone massges. His masseuse explained that she does "spiritual massages" which means placing rocks on the head and stomach to "clear the mind and detoxify the body" ....very little massaging. She flips him over for the last 5 minutes of the 30 min massage (supposed to be 50 but someone overslept) and rubs his back. My massage was ok, nothing to write hone about. Next we had facials which were great. Finally, we had $70 pedicures that were mediocre at best. Im sure that I could get a much better pedicure at any strip center bail salon for half the price. We check out of the spa and they still charge us for the super crappy 30 minute mind clearing spiritual experience (aka hot stone massage). Are these really licensed massage therapists? I seriously doubt it. We have high expectations when spending that kind of money for a spa day and it was beyond disappointing. Also, the bed is about as comfortable as sleeping on a piece of plywood. Lastly, we arrived in a nice clean Range Rover and payed $25 per day to have it parked under a tree which must have been the home to about a thousand birds because we left the "resort" in a rover completely covered in crap. Oh yea, if your an early riser and want good coffee you will have to wait until 7:30 for starbucks to open.......

Let me start by saying the staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly the bell staff and wait staff. The gals in the shops are as sweet as can be. The rooms are very spacious and plenty of storage space.

All in all, something is missing from this resort. The doors are very loud and heavy, they slam at 2am when guest return and was never able to get a full night sleep or when housekeeping is on the floor. The wait staff by the pool is wonderful, but it is hit or miss if they are there. The shower curtain was falling off the ring. Bathrooms are okay but not luxury by any stretch of the imagination. Our room had a musty smell. The balcony is very small, so small it isn't worth the extra charge. Yes, the resort fees are clearly stated but why not include it in the full cost of the room upon reservation?

We did have a lovely stay, the views are wonderful. Most likely would return only for that reason.

We appreciated hearing from this past guest and noted the specific feedback on some of the door closing devices that need adjusting along with ensuring that everything in the bathroom is as it should be. We agree that pasrt of what makes any resort's setting more beautiful are the views of the surrounding hill country and great golf courses.

I am writing this review from a perspective of a mother with 2 young children (18M and 3 years old). Here is why I think this resort is not ideal for family with young kids.
1. The resort is extremely stroller unfriendly. You could not get to either the indoor or outdoor pool with a stroller, you also could not get to the outdoor trailer or the miniture golf course with a stroller easily. Example: I spent 15minutes going to one end of the resort to pick up putters for the miniture golf course, and then had to walk all the way back to the other end and outside the facility to get to the resort.
2. The pool did not have a zero entry place for little kids.
3. I played with my kids the the kids playroom where you could also have the option to drop your kids off for an hourly fee. I observed during my 30mins there that the sitters there did not once interact or play with the one child that was in there by herself. They did not even take out the age appropriate toys for her to play with.
On the plus side if you have older children who don't require strollers this is a great resort, great food at the wine bar, great golf, lots of acitivities (nature trail, putting green, swimming, workout) Service is also amazing, the staff went above and beyond to provide a smore pit for us since they do not usually have it on a weeknight. The suite are large and accomodate a family of 4 very comfortablely
However, mothers who have young children would be challenged to keep her kids entertained while dad is enjoying a round of golf.
