I've never been to Jack Allen's and left disappointed. The food is good, and there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The wait can be long, especially during peak times (weekday lunch, any time on weekends). Parking can be difficult as well.

They also focus on 'natural' foods, but do not mistake this for healthy - most are pretty heavy and very filling.

I consider the average price to be inline with competitors serving 'wholesome' foods, which is higher than a typical restaurant, or at least you may not get as much food.

We went based on the reviews on trip advisor and we are so happy we did! There was about an hour wait on Friday night at 7:00, which was well expected. We were able to grab a hightop table by the bar during the wait, which was perfect with the kids. We got some wine, got the kids some juice and an order of the crab dip. That was the best crab dip we have ever had and it was a great start to an awesome meal. Our 2 1/2 yr old son, and 5 year old daughter nearly ate the entire dip!! We sat outside and it was perfect! My husband and I both ordered the special of the peppercorn beef tenderloin, and both could be cut with a fork, that's how tender they were, delicious! We ordered the kids the chicken fried chicken adult dinner to share, and they split it in the kitchen for us which we weren't expecting! The kids loved it, and so did we, we had to taste it :). The service was fantastic, the food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was great! Definitely check it out!!

Nice place on outskirts of Austin in community of Oak Hill. Nice ambiance, indoor and outdoor bars and seating areas. Lively bar area, good drinks, happy hour. Next to a fast food place, but ample parking. Gets crowded so go early. Lots of menu items with wide variety. Good guacamole, homemade chips. Hubby had fish special, very good, I had one of their gourmet burgers with sweet potato fries, also good. Too full for dessert. Planning to go again.

Not your ordinary restaurant! They have creative dishes you won't find anywhere else. Each dish is seasoned so well it will make your mouth water. Its a casual atmosphere with good service, and its family friendly.

I had the (chicken fried rib). Yep! They take a huge prime rib bone, batter it up, then fry it like you would a chicken fried steak.

OMG! Its sooooo good! Every bite was perfection. The breading was like nothing I have ever had. It was over the top. Our family also shared also the tomato bisque soup, caramelized onion and chicken quesadilla, a steak salad. We topped it off with a "To Die For" Molten Chocolate Lave Brownie Sunday!!!

This place ROCKS!

If you get towards the back of this place you will have a wonderful creek view. Our waiter John served up an extra heap of enthusiasm. The sausage stuffed porked medallions rocked. The menu is not for the faint of heart, as the best selections are deep fried. It's a ways from the city but convenient if you stay at Barton Creek.
